So, I make a lot of my meals at home and am finding it hard to find the dishes without a Resturant name behind it or just at all, how would I figure the calories out if I can’t find it?

The internet has a lot of recipe calorie & nutrition calculators when you Google them. I would like to say I prefer one over another, but some of my ingredients are not name brands that certain recipe builders require, which then leaves me searching for an equivalent. Nothing worth doing well is going to be easy. Here's a link to one that's relatively easy to use, but again it's going to be your preference. https://www.verywellfit.com/recipe-nutrition-analyzer-4157076

I make up my favorite recipes and log them in the recipe section of my cookbook you don't need to submit them, but they are there for you to use anytime you have that meal. You have to go to your recipe to load it in the food log but it is a nice option

Enter the individual components of your meal. You can save common ones as whole recipes. So say you make beef stew, input the kind of beef you used, carrots, potatoes etc. I hope I understood your question correctly. Good luck.

I make most of my meals from scratch also and this takes some time but it's worth the time and saves me time and frustration in the long run. On the right side of your page here on FS it says My cook book. Click on and you will see a small blue “submit a recipe” on the right side. Click. you will have to type in your recipe including how many servings and each ingredient. Save. Now next time you have a serving (or two!) of that recipe all you have to do is go to My Cook Book and add the # of servings to your log. Hope this helps, it does get easier :)

Recipes dot SparkPeople dot com has a good recipe analyzer. You can then enter your own custom food entry on FS. In meal entry, use search, scroll to the bottom and choose to enter your own food.

I use the MyFitnessPal app. Its free and I only use for recipes. And you can actually scan in the items you are using as opposed to a generic brand. Or bulk enter and it will help you find. It also takes a URL address if you find a recipe on line but I find that rarely works

You can create your own recipe on this app and it will calculate the calories for you. Super simple, too.

Click Cookbook and there is also a section to Add Custom Food in the food diary right-hand column.
