duross's Journal, 14 August 2018

I had crept back up to 370 last weekend. I turned 53 Friday and have been telling myself for about a month that I am going to get crazy serious about dropping some weight. I’m Going to try something crazy and go for losing 100 pounds in 100 days.
The plan is to do 20 hour fasts and just eat between 5&9. Also shooting to do a Keto style eating plan. I should be able to do anything for 100 days, right.
366.8 lb Lost so far: 3.2 lb.    Still to go: 141.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 0.5 lb a week

losing fat is not ideal, so don't go crazy. If fasting with dropping your carbs is not a bad thing though. many enjoy a nice steady pace of fat loss and weight loss. make sure you have your electrolytes and drink a lot of water.

slow and steady wins the race my friend. think long term lifestyle change, then it will work out

No!!! Do not fast for so long! :( Youre body will go into starvation mode. (Ex anorexic talking here.)

Don't shock your body too much. Don't forget a lot of the quick loss in beginning can be water, and you don't want to dehydrate. Jim Giganti and Baskington are right, slow and steady. It takes a lot of work to actually lose a pound of fat. If you try keto, make sure to get veggies in and get nutrition. Good luck to you. And we are all here for you.

I think that would be unhealthy!

Slow and steady, just stay focused and be determined.

Agreed. Slow and steady does win the race in the case of weight loss. I've been avaraging about 2lbs a week just by watching my calories and increasing my exercise.

Really consider just changing your diet in general..calories in vs activity level. So many peeps always with the fad diets, guess it works to some extent, really tho just keep track of daily intake and balancing that with activity level and you are on a path to long term success. It's better than the on off if "dieting" I like to think what is best is a change of overall 'lifestyle." With all that said I hope whatever you chose gets the results you want. Good luck!

Yep, you can do this if you're fully determined and committed. I'm getting 30 or more pounds off by October. It is good to set goals. Drinking water kills any hunger pangs. If you feel real weak, do Plan B which could be a second meal or Plan C by adding a third meal. If you get to thinking you blew it, immediately revert back to Plan A. Keep a count of your Plan A days. You can do this!

I think this is a really good thing for you to try out. I am actually going try this out. Besides losing 100 pounds in 100 days because then I would be 60 pounds and that is really unhealthy but for you it is extremely healthy for you. Intermittent fasting is the best kind of diet for anyone. I agree with everyone else though slow and steady but that goal is realistic.

Slow and steady is for people with 20 pounds to lose. Go For it! You need a radical change and that sounds like a perfect plan. When, not if, when you fall off the wagon get right back on. Drink plenty of water. Oh and diet drinks make you fat, drink water. Good luck, you can do this!

I admire your goal. One caveat, if you are not able to reach 100 pounds in 100 days, do you have an alternative plan? It must be positive; giving up is not an option.

I am certain you didn't just jump up the 8lbs overnight unless you swallowed and anvil.... You need to take it off slowly and keep moving forward. Always have a realistic goal..

I would also suggest that you hide the scales and let your clothes tell the tale. Too many times we can get emotionally tied thereby frustrated with what the scales say, often to our demise.

ONLY DRINK WATER!!!! Lots of it. Trick your stomach to think you're full it helps a lot. If you don't like water still drink lots of it and you will grow to like it.

Thanks for all the input. It is much appreciated. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have tried many many plans, diets, etc. the only plan that has consistently worked for me is when I cut down to 1 or 2 meals a day. Whenever I do a plan that has 3 or more meals a day I start gaining back. Which is very interesting and frustrating to me. Sooo, I thought I would be a case study for all us FS people. I love water so I will make sure to stay hydrated and I am taking supplements to make sure I get certain nutrients. Thanks for all the good luck wishes.
