Wishing you the best....know how you feel....it's not an easy thing to do....have gone through the same process myself because of my back and having to accept that it's not going to get any better.....really hoping that you get better and are not letting it get you too down....sending good thoughts.

Hope the exercise helps you as much as it helps my moods. I'm convinced there's more to it than just endorphins. The improvement lasts at least 24 hours. And good luck with your neck issue.

Tom, I love love exercise. It's good for the body, helps stress melt away, and elevates the mood. Getting exercise in will help me adjust to the adaptive changes that I will have to make in my life. Kathryn, it is hard to accept changes in your body, I have had to do it after 2 injuries and asthma has it's affects that seems to be ever changing, just one more trial to overcome. Thanks Glen for the virtual neck rub-it helped ;) and Kathy for the hugs. LOL had to stop and give my cat a neck rub.
I didn't brave the trip to the gym after work as was really sore and there was an accident backing up the interstate to get to the gym making it a long trip to get there. Came home instead and 25 minutes walking on the gazelle, will do some stretching and fit a few other core exercises into my night. Working on my core will help my neck in the long run. The neck feels better after moving.
Trying to get 10,000 steps in as I have some house things to do. So back up an moving.

Hi there! There are three very simple isometric exercises for your neck that you can do and get instant relief.
They were given to me by an expert physiotherapist in Pune India. I am a fitness trainer myself and I would love to show them to you.
1 min each is all it takes!

Hi! These are the exercises for your neck
1.
Sit in a chair. Back straight, stomach pulled in, lace your fingers behind your head and push your head back into them. Hold for 1 min.
2.
Stand with your back against a wall. Bend your arms at the elbows, so your upper arms are touching the wall. Push with your upper arms into the wall. Hold for 1 min
3
Take pair of dumbbells or any weights you have, water bottles, cans.
Do a shoulder shrug. Bring your shoulders up to your ears. Hold for 1 min

Carol thanks I'm doing 2 of those the shrugs @ work with 2# weights. I will try the wall one as well. Gym workouts are also helping as much of the pain is supporting muscles that tense up to protect the body. Especially the trapezius muscles and upper back. 2 gym workouts this week concentrating on upper body and some abs as core support is essential. Since a workout yesterday today will be cardio and try some swimming again. I so want to get back to being able to swim laps freestyle, my neck has been stopping me.

Carol, thanks the wall one I think will help a lot, the others I'm already doing. I try to do the stretches and others off an on during my work day and at home daily. Sitting at a desk all day is not the best on the body.
