Day 39 of summer holidays.:)

Today feels like a good day. My run in the morning was strong. Was able to fit into one of my favorite pairs of shorts and my scale at home is showing 124.8 again. Will hold off recording on FS until my WW weigh-in this Thursday...But going to the tanning studio to reward myself anyway.;-)

Totally believe that the journey of weight loss is 80% mental and 20% physical. At this point, trying to keep my goals realistic. Not a lot to lose now, about 5 pounds. Hoping not to backslide or set myself up for failure!!! Need to keep my goals realistic. Realize that for me wanting to lose 2-3 pounds per week is a one-way road to failure and disappointment. Better to keep my goals around the 1/2 pound mark per week. If I try to lose too much weight too fast, I find myself failing not because I'm not losing weight, but because the bar has been set too high and hasn't been reached...

Abruptly back to reality after last week's trip to Disneyland with two of my boys (13 and 17). Missing them immensely now!!! Also probably not the best idea to turn 48 while in transit, then having to part company. Have needed to a lot of mental preparation, "training the brain" to get back to my old routines and pick up where I left off. Transitions. In all honesty, praise God for this opportunity to know He is there to lift us up always.:)

The Disneyland trip was incredibly fun. Lol, it was my kids' first time and they were taskmasters.;-) Every day from morning to midnight, we walked for miles and miles. By the time we crawled into bed at night, our feet were literally throbbing. Also different to experience temps consistently in the 90s, hotter than anything we are used to in the Northwest. Managed to find shady spots and some indoor air-conditioning.;-) And came back with the new habit of drinking copious amounts of cold water.;-) Best of all, the laughs and wonders we shared, and the poignancy of seeing my kids sleeping peacefully in their beds.:)))

Back to the present and things I have more control over currently...new weight loss goals and the more gradual speed at which to lose the weight. Hope to lose 2 more pounds by the time school starts in September, 4 weeks away. Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Realistic. Time Frame. Smarter.;-)

To all my buddies: stay extraordinary and God bless your day.:)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip and wish that we were able to meet while you were here. I am hoping there will be another one of these trips in your future. Sounds like you are doing great with your weight loss. Getting so close to goal and I definitely agree about not setting unrealistic goals. School starting already. Unbelievable how quickly time passes. I hope you've been getting to do lots of the things you can't do during the school year. Glad to see you here Maria and hope you have a great week!!

Your trip to Disney sounds amazing and BUSY!!! Time with kids is the best time spent EVER!! Happy Birthday, I'm sure the time with your children was a great gift. Good for you being realistic with your weight loss goals. It is so much harder getting rid of the last few pounds. Very wise of you to keep realistic expectations. Nice to have you back!
