Questions and then some more! I was discussing Keto with one of my work mates and he was telling me that induction for Keto is 21 days. He told me I shouldn't be doing it for that long with out cheating.
Theoretically if I had a cheat meal go shock my body and then go back to Keto I'll lose more weight. I must workout before hand, hard.

What I know is;

I've hit a plateau
I felt awful today because I have not needn drinking water

Thoughts??

It doesn't take 21 days to get into ketosis and you don't "need" a cheat meal to be successful. WTF

it takes 3 days for most people to get into ketosis if you are doing it correctly. some people do need less carbs then others. I don't cheat to break a stall, I don't want to feel unwell. and it takes days to get back on track. I made the mistake of chasing the stall and trying to bounce it dropping my calories even lower and by trying IF fasting. All I did was make myself tired and increased my water retention. which made my scale go up. I have lost 20 pounds then stalled. Once I decided I had to update my stats, I found that my protein was too low and my calories may be too low. I don't know where you have your macros' and how much weight you have already lost, but sometimes as you get closer to your goal there is a slow down. Now I have heard many go on a fat binge to bounce the calories up, that will not negatively effect your process. Fasting if you have a lot of fat in reserve to burn may help you. everyone is different.

Full keto adaptation takes 3 to 6 weeks, there are a lot of metabolic adjustments. Getting into ketosis is quicker as noted. There are good references available, I like The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living by Phinney & Volek.

I just want to toss this out there. I fast... and I STILL plateau. My body will simply switch into a mode, probably because it has some cellular repair or resting to do, or whatever. It will retain, or expel water, ect. I have 'influence' over my body, but I do not have 'control'. I simply have to 'stay the course' and be 'patient'.

Losing weight with keto still requires calorie reduction. It's also recommended to eat a lower fat percentage - 70 to 75% - because your body will draw on its fat stores.

Some people say that the earth is flat. Everyone has opinions. Stay in ketosis, its hard going back and forth, dealing with carb/sugar cravings suck! Be patient and things will work out.

You are doing great, stay in Ketosis. My opinion is, you are either doing Keto or your not and if you are cheating you are not. It’s a tough diet and you have to stay on top of it 100%. Planning and being conscious 24/7. Everyone I know that does Keto has plateaus. And they get past them. Most of what I read was to change calorie intake or to fast and that helps. Good luck!

Thank you for all this insight it is tremendously helpful. I'm still a Keto noob and easily influenced with neurotic ideas. I have lost about 46 pounds and I have see things go up and down. I re-did my macros and now I will hang around 1900 cals which seems a lot for me and I struggle to hit that most days. This feels like a crazy science experiment !!
