Hello, My FS Friends! Finally a day without a vet visit - one dog for eyelid surgery, and two for ear infections and checkups - $1200.00. You just got to love the little furry creatures. My youngest little furry creature, in the canine department, weighed in at 130 pounds. Vet says he'd like to see him lose 40 pounds. Holey Moley, wouldn't we all!

Got in 4.1 miles this morning; still keeping HR under 140. Almost have to crawl to do it. The idea is that you're getting the time on your feet, but not stressing your heart. You do that on your 85% days, but I'm working through the Novice - get back on track program. If you really get to know your heartrate, and train accordingly, you should be able to run a marathon at 85 to 90%. The elites probably maintain 95% for 2 hours.

Living with DW has been a real challenge. This "chemo brain" thing is about to drive me up a wall. She doesn't remember saying things that she says to me, nothing tastes good to her, but she constantly craves something. She's irritable all the time. I can't hardly do anything right for her. Other than that, life's hunkey dory!

Going to see if I can't get some work done on the playground today. It's going to be another scorcher. People are getting rains here, sporadically throughout the middle of the state, but so far they are missing us. I've been watering the heck out of the new trees and plants, and some of them are actually starting to bloom. Grass is crunchy though, and not green anymore.

I don't trust anything that can kill me, like wild animals or angry women.

Toodles!

Oh my goodness! Expensive! Hang tough with the chemo treatments. Take a deep breath. Easy for me to say but we are here for you to talk with. Much Respect!

Thats a nice sized dog! Wow. On my bike ride today I had trouble keeping HR down, it was windy! I have been using a HRM for a long time, but honestly dont know how to apply it to cycling. I like the gadgets too. Hang in their with DW, I know thats rough pal. And I bet your still much faster than me at running, I have not done it in so long. A 12-13 min. mile was fast for me.

Posterchild, that book I mentioned was for cyclists as well as runners. The same principle applies: if you do your easy runs, or bike rides at <70%, and your tempo runs at 85%, with 1 or 2 days rest a week, you will get to where you are running or riding faster, with less effort, at the <70% level.

We just took our dog to the vet on Tuesday - he weighs 93 pounds but the vet says he 'wears it well'.. :) He did, however, have a double ear infection - guess it's that time of year! :)

Thanks DK, I may check that book out. I am pretty clueless about cycling training and have been winging it. I know I do long rides Fridays. A few easy rides through the week, and toss in intervals when I feel up to it. I try to change it up a bit. I need more of a "plan".

I enjoy your mathematical analysis of your workouts. Real numbers crunching - as opposed to doing sit-up crunches!

Yikes, $1200 is deep...but I also have been known to spend that and more on my Bengal cats. I am sorry it is hard right now with DW but that is part of her process -I am sure she is very grateful. Also, you mentioned HRM last week and reminded me to get mine out and start logging calories burned since we all know FS exaggerates them. Of course, I screwed it up the first time an forget how to set it...but do have the manual book so I will try to get it together.
