Good morning, friends!

I think I slept good, though I woke up a LOT of times, and my neck is killing me this morning. I think I simply slept tight the last part of the morning, maybe with my head in a weird position. It'll get better, no biggie.

Today I go to the hospital to get drained, and I'm looking forward to having it done. Not looking forward to the public transport quite as much though. I'm tired and not really in the mood for people this morning. I guess I'll just have to man up. :)

Yesterday was a good day. I was mostly at home, doing little things here and there. I managed to play music for almost an hour - new post-surgery record! I could tell I was super tired afterwards, though.

I'm rehearsing my songs for the new band, and they're killer to play - in more than one way. First being that they're super fun, but the other that they're quite a challenge. I try to get used to playing bass using my fingers instead of a guitar pick, and it hurts A LOT in the beginning. Well, the last couple of days I have literally played until my fingers bled. Ouch. I'm building calluses, though, and that's a good thing. It'll help me once they're good.

I did reasonably well on my food choices yesterday, though I did dig into a portion of ice cream. I stayed within a good measure on the RDI though, and it's all good.

I can't wait to get back to work and away from the fridge. I need it badly. Being here at home for so many hours is not good for me. I need to be somewhere that does NOT have a food outlet. :)

Today I will also talk to my doctor about exercise. What can I do, what can I NOT do? Of course, I need to listen to my body and my energy levels and all that, but I am more concerned about what could potentially damage my cut or the healing process. That kind of thing. I'm thinking of starting on some simple exercises, like my xbox kindle yoga, stuff like that. Things with no fast movement. Maybe that will be accomplishable?

I also need to get the final approval on going to work but I don't think this will be an issue at all. I'm starting slow, easy work, and will work my way up from there. No biggie. I think if I can handle playing music and generally surfing online, I can handle some of the work there is to be done.

Today I will be listening to more Deep Purple stuff. I'm putting a bunch of their CDs on my phone so I have music to listen to while I commute today. It'll be nice. Good music, good memories all the way. :)

Today, I am thankful for:
- Going to the hospital to get drained.
- Morning coffee.
- A drop in weight. I am back in the 83's. A few more to go for now. What was my goal again? 82? Honestly, I forgot.

Happy hump day, people! Life is good!

That is a good use of music, public transport. I wish I used it more, isnt that funny. Good luck on your adventures today, go easy, and try to enjoy your busy time as much as you can.

Good Day, Keld. I am so happy to hear you were able to play bass one hour. Did I ever tell you I am a clasically trained musician? I studied oboe in graduate school and used to make a small living as a symphony player - I still play, but moved on to second career. Music is my heart and passion, too. All kinds if music - of course, I performed Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, and all other classic composers!

HCB, that is AWESOME! you never mentioned that. You know then how important music is for a musician. I just can't do without it. Today, I managed to play the full hour again - STANDING UP! This is major, as it is much more tiresome, but it's the way I need to get used to play again. You just can't play rock music sitting down. :) Besides, as I am teaching myself to use my fingers instead of a pick, I really need to get the feel as I stand up, or it will feel totally different when we have the next live job, which is in a couple of weeks. I hope I'm ready. It's a very casual and laid back job, so I should be able to sit down, rest in the breaks and whatever else is needed. I do enjoy classical music, though I don't listen to it enough. There is so much good music out there to be discovered. I see a clear connection between classical and rock music. Take a listen to pretty much anything "classic" Deep Purple, and tell me that Bach isn't looking over their shoulders? :) Need an example (as we can't really link here) - go to youtube and search for "deep purple highway star" or "deep purple burn" and you'll see what I mean. Good stuff.
