I am still in the motivation and planning stage of starting my weight loss program.

Over the years, I have tried just about every diet there is. When I mentioned to a coworker that I was considering doing Keto again, she gleefully told me that she had read that people who stopped doing Keto gained all their weight back.

My response:

"Of course they did. That is true with ALL diets. That would be true if I ate like a normal person, but the reality is...I am not. I am addicted to sugar and carbs. When I feel depressed, I enjoy eating candy, processed foods, 64 oz of soda, baked goods, fried goods, etc. THAT is the reason I gained all of my weight back. I gained my weight back because I have no breaks. I can't stop eating. I eat ridiculous amounts. It is the single, solitary reason that I have gained all of my weight back after every attempt to be healthy."

It does not matter what diet you try. It is 100% about your mindset. Eating addiction is exactly the same as drug addiction. I will ALWAYS be an addict.

I respect that my addiction is stronger than I am. Knowing that this is the case, I take pride in all the times that I HAVE been successful. Each time I try, I am able to succeed longer and longer. Last time, I was successful for 11 months. I remember what works, the routine, and the triggers. This time might not be the last time, but each and every time I try, I bring more knowledge to the table and better chances of long term success.

"It is 100% about your mindset" Spot [bleeping] on! However I say the addition is not stronger than you. You have proven that because you have fought it and beat it back a few times before. You will again. Never give up.. never give in!

I used to be a carb addict also. the key is to clean out your house to eliminate all temptations. REALLY Dutch or donate all carbs and non Ketogenic foods. then stock up on Keto friendly Craving Busters like Fat Bombs, Bulletproof Coffee. bake low carb breads and biscuits keep them th the freezer and toast or bake to make a Peanut Butter and Jelly, or A Berry Shortcake or a BLT. Apple Cider and Lemon Water and Bone Broth are also great craving shoppers. I got serious and lost 50+ pounds so far, cured my diabetes, dropped 4 meds and feel fantastic. The first 4-5 days of carb weaning is hell, but once you reach true Ketosis on the 5th pr 6 day, it's like your body goes into overdrive. you feel so much better, you forget the cravings, or you end up getting a keto substitute. good luck!

watch "The Magic Bullet" for inspiration, and enlightenment on the Keto Diet, it's free on Netflix and for rent on Google and YouTube.

You have to be ready...ready for not just a change but a lifestyle change. It took me about 3 weeks to get over the cravings and temptations. Plus it takes time to learn to change the items you eat so you can incorporate items you like to have. Once that’s figured out it’s easier because it doesn’t feel like a diet but a lifestyle change. You won’t lose a ton of weight each week but I’ve been steadily at 1 pound a week. Slow and steady. You can do it...you just need to be ready.

The hardest part, well one of them, is that we have to eat, while with other addictions you don't have to partake of a small amount and be expected to stop.

Preparation is important, whatever eating plan you undertake, but I found that keto (*completely* new for me) required significant research and shopping. Motivation is everything. May your "next new life" be full of joy and success!

I agree it takes awhile to get the mind right and to do a reality check as to why you got there. Especially if you "gained it all back," I try to not even use the word diet. When the weight loss is noticeable and people start to ask what diet I am following I just reply the ELMM diet. Eat less and move more. Its the only one that really works.

One of the biggest mistakes we all make when taking on a new way of eating is OVERSHARING! Don’t tell people what you are doing. Keep it to yourself. The more you share, the more your resolve dissipates. People feel the need to give you their “2 cents” worth of their opinion. “Oh...I know someone who dieted like that...blah, blah, blah...” You don’t need to hear it. It’s distracting. It’s undermining. It creates self-doubt and makes you second guess your mission. What we’re all trying to do is HUGE. We’re trying to CHANGE OUR LIVES...permanently. You CAN do it, but it’s going to take everything you’ve got. 💪🏽✊🏽

What is Keto

You are so courageous to talk about this in such a delicate way towards yourself. I can see you have a very high self esteem and self love. Thank you for sharing. You are right, just a miracle Candace is from our addictions, thank god hobbies, friends, and a change in lifestyle and thinking can greatly help all of us see that addiction from another point of view, but being realistic about this painful subject is good.

@Anmyreah Keto is a variant of a diet basted on low carb high fat intake (LCHF). Lots of good info on it one the Youtubes. Its not a magic bullet... its not for everyone... but it is one of many paths that people have found success. Remember its not about short term diet but about life change that fits the bod.
