HCB's Journal, 19 November 2015

Greetings my Best Buddies:

Well, I decided to keep my RDI at 1300 calories to wait and see how the additional exercise plays into the mix. I also had my thyroid medication lowered which could be a factor in creating a stall - so probably best not to eat more calories at this time.

I am trying to complete 18-20 workouts in the month and this week I will get my five visits completed! And, I am using " Big Girl" weights on the strength activities - this means 20, 25, 30 and 35 pound dumbbells depending upon the movement. We also use TRX straps and core body weight exercises. I am gaining ability in those things, too.

Sometimes, I am shocked at how far I have come strength - wise. One of the trainers even mentioned it after I did 10 full body push-ups last week; "Remember how you were when you first came two years ago?"

FINAL THOUGHT for today: WHY wait until "after the holidays" to watch your food or exercise? Now is THE time to be watching it so we do not gain the holiday 15 pounds that they say many people actually gain. PLAN AHEAD.

Words of the Week:
“Success is dependent upon the glands – sweat glands.” ~Zig Ziglar
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

HCB, this is the 1st yr. I won't be out of control during the holidays. I enjoy eating healthy so much, I will be having holiday meals at home where I say what's served. I never get invited to Christmas parties, and I don't care. If I go out, I'll go to my sister's.

It is a wonderful thing to think about how far you have come. That helps to give you energy for the journey ahead. You are doing wonderfully well!

I am also mind prepping for Thanksgiving. I will enjoy the turkey and salad! But no noodles or dressing for me. And stay away from the dessert table also. I will make a low carb cheesecake and that will be my treat. I am determined!! Luck for me my MIL understands and will not push me to just have a "little".

I got an email today that also quoted Zig Ziglar: "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily."

@ Glen! Yes, thyroid medicine is adjusted through blood work. The endocrinologist decided my dose was too high now that I have lost 70 pounds...they titrate the dose based on weight, too. He only changed it a small amount but I can always feel it.

Those are big girl weights! I use the same range for pec flys and lateral raises, great work you are almost at your goal and there are not many people over 60 of either gender that can boast 10 push ups. If you are interested here are a few that can. http://dailyburn.com/life/fitness/best-athletes-over-60/
