jmb3450's Journal, 06 March 2015

4 hours of shoveling snow yesterday, 2 driveways x 2 times so I didn't have to lift all the snow at once. Hopefully burned lots of calories. We ended up getting 9 to 11 inches, depends on where you measure it. Then the doors on my vehicles were all frozen shut this morning, finally managed to get them all open. They opened offices up 2 hours late so I had time to get my mom dug out this morning on the way to work. Might look into pricing snow blowers although I like being able to do it by hand...I keep thinking that my grandfather shoveled by hand into his late 70's, if he could do it so can I. Hope hope hope this is the last of the snow, I'm so ready for Spring as I'm sure lots of us are.

One positive thing from the day off yesterday - I finished up composing an instrumental on a Weissenborn slide guitar that I'd started last year - aptly titled "Winter's Last Snow." I tried to capture the feeling of Spring starting to come with a warming spell, then Winter coming back one more time with a snowstorm, then the melt as we continue to move towards Spring. Gotta finish smoothing it out playing wise but once done maybe I'll record it and post a link.

Move over Buffy.... I have a son who is a musician. I can only listen and let the tears flow when he's playing.

It would be nice to figure out how to add snow shoveling to the exercise diary, huh, maybe you can but I can't figure out how

Judyfc, snow shoveling is included as an exercise in FatSecret, burns about 600 kcal/hour according to the entry.

Sorry.... there's nothing online at this time. Was a couple of years ago, but nothing now. So you're going to have to play and share a link.
