Coconut Oil and Alzheimers

Came across a very interesting video - actually found it while researching seasoning cast iron pans. It appears that coconut oil is very healthy for the brain and has positive effects for Alzheimer patients. Very interesting...that runs in my family so it's all the more reason to use the coconut oil, besides just while fasting. Here's the link - click on my journal entry and the link should play (I think).

I plan to read the book mentioned in the video. And start using the coconut oil in my cooking. I didn't realize until now that it helps build up good cholesterol in the body.

Jim - you may be interested in the book titled, "Grain Brain" written by neurologist Dr. Daniel Perlmutter. It is excellent and shares much detail about the ways MCTs help many ailments.

Hi Jmb3450, Thanks for bringing this information up. I was not able to get to the video from your link (probably since it is an iframe) so I searched the web and found this video. Not sure if it is the same one you saw. Here is the link that I found: http://www.cbn.com/tv/2079485277001 You probably need to put that url in address bar of your browser to access the video. Hope that helps.

I have been hearing more and more about coconut oil. But only makes sense, plant oils are rich and full of the "better" fat.

I have been on the fence about coconut oil. This shows how healthy it is. Thank you for sharing this information!

Just ordered the book mentioned in the video - "Alzheimer's Disease: What If There Was a Cure?: The Story of Ketones." It's available in paperback from Barnes and Nobles for 5 bucks online if anyone is interested. 3 of my grandparents had the disease so I'm very interested in learning how to avoid it if possible.

Great - glad you ordered it. Also that author of"Grain Brain" I mentioned earlier is DAVID Perlmutter - not Daniel. Sorry.
