SEE UPDATE (BELOW):

My step son is over here now helping DH cut down trees for his next project. The 49 Ford sold so he is putting up another garage. Anyway, it keeps him busy!

There you go Buffy. Who's truck and who was at fault??? I bet they were not popular!

Is is DH's truck. As for blame, there is enough to go around.

At least it is repairable - hopefully the dust will settle soon :)

Tracy - that is repairable. But they also fell a tree on my fountain and my peach tree. Had to buy a new fountain and am holding my breath to see if the peach tree recovers.

At least we know one profession your DH and stepson won't be going into. :) Just think, if it wasn't for life's little mishaps, this would be a dull world. I hope your peach tree pulls through. I planted a Newport Plum this year, and I knew when I planted it, that all the soil fell away from the roots. I made sure the original soil on the roots was planted with it in the hole, but, I babied and watered it for 3 months - even prayed for it. Never a sign of life. Went out one morning after a rain, grabbed hold of it, and just pulled it right out of the ground. It was a 6 ft. tree and about 1 1/2 inches around, and I shouldn't have been able to do that if it had a root system. Hopefully, yours is well rooted and will survive the shock. Trees are funny. A car ran into one of ours out next to the road, and just tore the bark off of it. We thought for sure it was going to survive when we didn't see it lose its leaves or anything. Two years later it died. Others didn't look like they had any hope, and then one day, leaves had sprouted. You never know. Would have liked to have seen the 49 Ford. That was one of my favorite cars - a tank with a steering wheel the size of a wagon wheel. A good moonshine running car!

I hope for the best for your peach tree....isn't that the one you already replaced once this year? Perhaps some tree-cutting safety classes will find their way into someone's Christmas stocking this year....or would that be too tacky???!!! LOL! Hope you have a nice insurance agent.

Sorry about the peach tree, Buffy. What a mess!

Oh no Buffy.....I bet you showed little sympathy for your hubbies truck....but you know these are the things you will all be laughing about in a few months....

Oops, did the "timber" fall the wrong way ? Sorry to hear about your peach tree, hopefully it will survive :)

I know how you feel about the damage and mayhem the "tree loggers" are doing to your place. We took down one giant Chestnut tree one year in the old house where I used to live. My one plea was to save the Japanese Maple that was planted near it. I said, "I don't care what else it damages, just save the little tree." So I guess you know what happened next. The big chestnut came down like the mighty giant it was, and the only thing damaged?...... it decapitated the Japanese maple. LOL! Believe it or not, that little maple came back ... it just lost some of its charm, but it was still pretty.

DairyKing - Maybe they would get better with practice? And you are right - trees are sure funny. An earlier tree falling incident sheered off the side of our apple tree and it is already sprouting new branches all over that side - so maybe there is hope!

Sandy - Wow, you have a good memory. Yes, it was the replaced tree that got hit. But I haven't given up on it yet. As for the insurance, we are not going to file a claim. I told DH that this can be his first project in his new garage.

Mom2Boxers - nice to chat with someone who has also experienced "tree logger mayhem". Good news about the little maple.

Heather - Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better.

Tracy - we are already laughing. It is all worth it because when the new garage goes up, I'll have full custody of the old garage.

Notfast - Of all the trees they cut, only one actually landed where it was supposed to. Glad the trees are all finally down.
