I need to get off my diabetes meds. Sooner the better. As my doctor has said is that all diabetes meds just transfers the sugars from my blood stream into fat cells!! Some of these meds are worse than others. So the biggest challenge is reducing the sugars and carbs at the source and that starts at what I am putting into my mouth. I also need to pick up my pace in exercising.
294.0 lb Lost so far: 16.0 lb.    Still to go: 119.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

You got this! I was Diabetes 2 (Metformin) for two years before woe and the change of diet has taken me off my medicine completely. You would be surprised by adding the option in your settings menu to include the sugar option just how much sugar is in the food you eat. I chose Fat, Fiber,Net Carb, Sugar, Protein and caloric . It helps keep you centered.

Good start to look into sugars and carbs. Have you considered LCHF (low carb high fat)?

You can do it! I changed my eating last May when I found out I was pre diabetic (along with many other obesity related diagnosis's). It's not always easy but your health is so worth it!

Pattychaney, Josette99, MelissaChevalier, Thank you for your support and comments. I was doing so well, I lost 28 lbs about 10 months ago when I was exercising all lot (5 days per week, twice per day) and was eating more salads and fresh vegetables. I believe the mistake I made was reducing my exercise routine about 80% because of burn-out and injuries and at the same time allowing starch cards like breads and pasta back into my diet along with some sweets. I am still very good about staying away from fast foods and all sweet drinks. I am on metformin, byeta and glipizide which the last two are the worst for maintaining my diet but does well with my blood sugars. I have always been one of those yow-yow dieters and I need to change that!!!

We need Mahjohn to start a question and answer section here. Like a "Dear Abby" for health-seekers.

dr furhmans book eat to live explain how easy getting off meds is. more green veggies, leafy greens hep keep ur system clean. if u crave a sweet, eat a fruit :) the key point is eating nutrient dense foods. basically plant derrived, fruits veggies, nuts, bens, and way less animal products with meat and dairy. just my two cents. it also helps keep the weight off. great job on ur goal too btw
