Penlan's Journal, 16 January 2016

An interesting night. I was expecting to be too hot, after all those extra kcals. I have found that since upping my fat and lowering the carbs I do tend to burn up easily, which is great, I have been permanently cold for over three years. But last night was different. I wasn't cold, but I wasn't hot either. I was comfortable. Odd.

of course it's too soon to see what effect on my weight it will have had. I was down 100g today, so it could well be on the turn. 100g isn't worth worrying about either way, but I recorded it as it was a change, and that's what I do.

I have substantiated that that much dairy fat is no good for me. My left sinus, which was chronically inflamed my entire life until I gave up dairy in the early part of the year, almost exploded. It has almost subsided now I find that I can tolerate dairy fat if I keep is on the low side, and the background inflammation is tolerable, and anyway I am used to it. That said, continuing to eat food knowing it causes me inflammation anywhere is plain daft. I just slapped myself. After a lifetime of only breathing on one nostril it felt odd to feel the air going in and out when I was not inflamed. So now I have to find a way to balance the pros and cons. I will figure it out. Cheese and yogurt is a very handy LCHF food....

My stomach also rebelled a little and I had stomach pain this morning. I am not going back there. I have been pain free in my stomach since I gave up grains and pulses in 2012. Nope, definitely not going back there. I had breakfast at 2.30 p.m, I was not feeling that I wanted to eat before then. Tobe honest I didn't want to eat even then but I have pills I take, which need food and I am not supposed to delay them too far from the norm....

I am looking at carbohydrate intake as a percentage of the food I eat, ideally meal by meal as well as day by day. I think this has more relevance than absolute weights such as 10g, 30g, 60g, as we all take different amounts of food even from one day to another, let alone person to person. So, using kcals as the common denominator I can analyse the macros by kcals and work on percentages. Of course I will use net carbs as I eat a lot of fibrous foods, so the FS %ages are skewed, and the lower the carbs in the diet the more difference it makes to the figure provided. Oooh, I can feel a spread sheet coming up :D

There was a relevance to this but it slips me by just now...... Sigh. It will return.

I use Open Office, but yeah :) Saves me computing the figures longhand. Working on it now :) I find it immensely interesting to analyse my personal data. Ticks my box, I am learning LOADS, and I Love to learn new things and gain better understanding.
