Hey buddies!

Today is day three of low carb/High fat calorie controlled dieting for me. So far so good. Why low carb? Why not? I want to jump start my loss, getting rid of bread, processed junk and sugar seems a solid route. It's kind of an experiment. If I end up staying on this plan then the game plan will be to gradually add more fruits and veg, and maybe some whole grain in time.

Today I added salad to my day and bought some low carb veg. I wasn't really prepared at the start of the week (unsure as to whether I was going to go through with it) so my intake was lacking in vitamins/minerals. Of course looking back on my rouge carb binge days my diet was lacking then too. I'm using coconut oil and half and half in my morning coffee to start my day with a fat boost. Tastes like an almond joy so I'm happy with it lol.

I haven't restarted my fitness routine as I'm giving my body time to adjust. Today I'm feeling a little easily fatigued which I'll chalk that up to the diet change. I'd imagine by now my glycogen (carb) stores are probably getting depleted, now we have to switch to burning body fat and change takes time. I'm going to focus a lot more on strength vs. cardio as I've learned the body likes to burn fat and muscle equally. Use it or lose it, they say. Strength training will preserve my muscle mass. I'd like to get back to swimming too. Maybe that will be the plan for the gym next week. Swim and Strength.

So that's what's up with me. :) Hope all is well with my buddies!

I'm doing something similar. I did a test at my doctor's office to determine my resting metabolic rate, basically what my body burns with no additional exercise, and found I was at 2000 calories. 6 months ago I had been more active and the same test came back with 2300 calories. So I'm eating 500 calories below 2000 (1500) to help with weight-loss. I'm sticking to a 60% protein to 40% carb ratio, which is surprisingly difficult to maintain. Finding a way to stay full without overdoing calories or carbs is always a challenge. I haven't been strict to the program, allowing for family and friend parties, but I always return to this way of eating to drop any weight I gain. I've been maintaining my weight for 2.5 months since ending my diet round, so it's working pretty well. Good Luck with your program!

It's good to have a change of plan to get you going again. I'm interested to hear how you get on with it as time goes on. It sounds like you're making gradual changes to your eating, so you should be fine. Good luck to you, anyway! It will be nice to get that downward trend going again!
