Somebody teach me how to keto.

What do I eat? Do I count calories? I'm noticing that a lot of people on these LCHF diets are still consuming less than or around one thousand calories a day and it makes me wonder if it's the content of your diet or the severe calorie deficits that equate to the losses.

Curious. Anyone?

It's both. When you get into a state of ketosis, your hungry diminishes greatly because your body is actually feeding off of body fat instead of the plate. Thus, leading to less calorie needs/wants while actually burning the body fat you already have. Blood sugar is also controlled on keto. Meaning you have no blood sugar spikes that tell your body to hold onto fat, and no blood sugar dips that make you crave more food (esp sweets/carbs). I noticed you and I started pretty close weight wise. I have lost my weight doing low carb starting in january. I have done low calorie/low fat/eat just this/don't eat that/eat everything but small portions, etc....NOTHING worked for me. And by that I mean I could not sustain any of those way of eating (WOE). I could lose a little here and there, gain back double. I was always hungry and grouchy. Low carb has been a godsend. I truly do not get hungry like before, I don't CRAVE certain foods like I used to. I shoot for 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs. 1200 calorie average a day. I love fatsecret cuz it figures all that up for me. I can add foods in to see what it "looks" like cal and % wise, then decide whether I am going to eat it or not. I know 1200 cals don't seem like a lot but sometimes it is even hard to get that much being as I'm just not hungry. Good luck to you if you decide to try keto. There is sooo much help on here, the support is awesome!

I have had steady consistent progress based on calorie deficits, I do not subscribe to any special plans...I lose weight on the days I am well below, I gain on days when I am above...at least the science is there...
