So I have been doing Atkins for 3 months. I was super excited when I first started because I lost 10 lbs in a week. But then the weight was taking forever to vanish. I started to get discouraged and was thinking of quitting (like I always do when I don't see the weight come off). I started reading that it is normal for some people and even more so when people have the typical yo-yo dieter. I kept going and started seeing inches come off, but the weight was not moving much still. so I stopped weighing myself and just focused on the inches. I have gone from wearing a size 40 to a size 38. I stepped on the scale this past Sunday and noticed I was down to 243 lbs, I started at 265 lbs. That's a total of 22 lbs in 3 months. Not as much as I was expecting on the Atkins diet, but also can't complain since its coming off. So my suggestion to all is focus on inches and not the scale, since the inches is what most of us are really concerned about.

Congrats on a great attitude! Don't know if you are also tracking your food but it can really help to know exactly where your percentages/calories are. Some minor tweaking can really turn your body into a fat burning machine!

I know exactly how you feel. Many of us are "instant gratification" junkies. It doesn't matter how long we took to put the weight on, we want it off NOW! Your perseverance is what will give you the long-term results that your looking for. Congrats on your success to date.

The first time I did atkins was in 1974 when the book first came out. I dropped 85lbs in 5 months. the weight and inches just melted off. I was 20 years old. keep that off for about 10 years. The next time after gaining about 40 lbs I lost 50lbs but it took longer but it did come off. I found that exercise held me back alot, and that may just be me. over exercise and getting over up set about things, holds me back. just a little info.
