wintersmith's Journal, 03 October 2009

A short journal entry today. I just got back from a martial arts test and it was pretty much what I expected. Kicking, punching, sparring, breaking wooden boards. Good, clean fun. :)

I think I did well, and I'm seriously looking forward to learning something new in the art. I might have been a little too aggressive when it came to the sparring, though.

And now a celebration dinner. I hope everyone on here enjoys their weekend!

They didn't let you know the results immediately? That would just screw with my head. LOL

They don't generally. The instructors discuss the merits of each tester and what rank they should attain. This is a seriously conservative school, and 2 years at orange belt isn't unheard of. Some of the red belts will never attain a don (black belt) rank without a lot of improvement. There were 15 of us all told, but I'm hoping I can skip two ranks with this one. Otherwise I'll be spending a few more months refining my current forms, techniques, and skills which isn't bad... but I'd like to move up.
