I've done horribly. my life has been a wreck as far as... everything. jobs, money. it's amazingly hard to afford healthy food when you're poor and now I'm a fat slob. not to mention I'm depressed. today I start and I really push myself to eat healthy and exercise. I CAN lose this weight.

Fruits and vegetables are pretty cheap in the summer months. But frozen and canned are still great too. Look for sales on meat. Find out from your local grocery store when they reduce the meat (as it gets closer to expiration date). Freeze it! Get some inexpensive measuring cups and spoons at the dollar store. They are great tools. Portion control is everything. Good luck!

When I feel that I can't control anything, the one thing I can control is what I put in my mouth - that is my power center against everything else. You can do it too. Losing weight, especially low carb, is the best depression reliever I can access. And don't stress about the exercise, it will come in time. Just get the food right, maybe a relaxing walk and plenty of sleep.

It's so hard to do anything positive in your life when you are depressed! Hang in there, girl. Everyone here will support you and that will help. I ended up eating better during those poor times, because I had to think very carefully about what I bought and portion my food. Even though processed food might have been more affordable in the moment, I got way more bang for my buck in nutrition and satisfaction!
