I'm planning on doing a weigh in today after work. I'm kind of nervous. I know I've been doing really well at keeping my intake below my RDI and I've been exercising 4 times a week. I'm getting stronger and starting to see some faint signs of muscle tone underneath my fat. :-P I know the theory that muscle is more dense than fat (common myth muscle does not weigh more than fat….a pound is a pound people. lol).

Anyway. I think the scale is not going to give me a number I like and while that is truly discouraging, I know that my heart muscle is getting stronger and my lungs are too. My heart rate has gradually come down from where it was during cardio when I started. My recovery time is a lot quicker too as per my heart rate during cool down. I'm able to do more sets with an increase in weights compared to when I started too. All of this is encouraging, it's just not seeing the number go down is not.

I've gotta keep pushing forward.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Keep pushing FORWARD!!! You have a good "handle" on the scale AND the fact it does NOT always reflect the good decisions we are making in a TIMELY manner...Regardless of the results, remember, the scale is only ONE of our tools> Keep pushing forward!!!! You are going to be just fine!!!!!

Individual muscle cells weigh more than individual fat cells, hence a group of muscle cells weigh more than a group of fat cells. So it takes a bigger volume of fat cells to weigh a pound than muscle cells.

I weigh once a week and am always a bit nervous before the weigh-in. Best wishes!

right msbuggirl. but a pound, weight wise, is a pound. Yes a pound of fat takes up more room than a pound of muscle, you are very much correct. but a pound of feathers will weigh the same as a pound of steel. a pound is a pound when you are merely looking at a scale. Thank you SuccessThisTime and DLiving! I think instead of weighing in weekly, I need to do monthly. I'm 6' so it takes 20 pounds for me to lose a dress size comfortably. Sometimes I wish I was 5'2 so I could lose 10 lbs and see the difference in the mirror. C'est la vie. :-)

Yes! keep pushing forward. Eventually that number will be one you like if you keep doing what you're doing....and it will be worth it!

Thank you groomv! I think we all have those moments when that light at the end of the tunnel is so far away it disappears. I'm trying to keep a positive mindset! In the past I've given up about a month and a half in so, I've got to get over that hump when it happens. Thankfully, I'm not there yet! And finding this FS community has really helped keep me motivated with all the support out here!
