Good Thursday Morning!!! I am coming to quickly realize that everyone's journey is to be very different so that everyone can walk away with knowledge that is best suited to them. My whole life I have been averse to exercise, and at this point, ironically, I am finding that is the ONLY thing that will kick start my weight loss. Three days walking...3.8 lbs down this morning. It is what it is so let's get it done! Keepin' on...:)

I'm working up the nerve to start walking ... never been an "on purpose" exerciser in my life! Given your experience, I might just take the plunge and take one tiny walk. If I don't die (LOL), maybe I'll take one more! Thanks for the observation/motivation!

You're welcome...each of the 4 days I have walked I have purposefully gone a tad further--.08/1.2/1.3/1.5 I was shocked that the 1.5 today was in shorter time than the 1.3 yesterday. Trust me...if THIS adamant NON-exerciser can do it....you can too!! :)

Great job getting started with walking. The most important thing is just that, getting started. I went from being an athlete to many many years of very little activity. When I started exercising again, first it was just walking and my whole lower body would ache in less than a half mile. Sometimes I'd have a hard time making it back my shins would hurt so bad. But the more I did it, over time the easier it got. Keep it up...it's great that you're increasing your distance. The benefits are huge, not just for helping with weight loss but also for your overall health. :)

Great job with your walking! You know, I have an aunt that was over 300 pounds. One night she got in an argument with her husband and instead of going for that chocolate bar like she always did, she instead went for a walk to cool off. She felt so good after 'walking off steam' that she decided to do it again the next night. Soon it became a nightly 'after dinner' habit and before she knew it she was down 100 pounds. She said she didn't even try to diet, but once she started losing weight from the walking, she started to feel better and no longer wanted to eat those processed, heavy foods. She said that she would just think to herself about how crampy and bloated she would feel on her walk if she ate that, and so she didn't. I find her story inspirational - one small healthy choice can change your life within a year. All the best to you Angie!

Yea! More walkers!! I've been fortunate that my husband started walking again daily in December, and I began in January...we're up to an hour per day now and it feels good to have the "habit." I listen to podcasts and he just enjoys nature. It's snowing here today (!!!) and we're heading out soon. Enjoy your walking. Maybe plan on 10 minutes every day - very doable. It helps me to create the intent of "Letting Myself Walk" rather than "Making Myself Walk."

Susan! What a wonderful deduction!! because I have never, ever done anything because I was made to (LOL Miss Rebel over here). Now, I see it as a gift I am giving myself. So far I have not added music to my routine...I like the sun, wind and sounds. This is all new right now. Dani...your Aunt and I have a lot in common. I looked at someone eating a Rice Krispy treat yesterday and thought--wow, I haven't had any refined sugar in almost a month...and that kind of looks nasty. NEVER have I thought that way. It was a good thought. JMB..I didn't see myself enjoying it...it was surely not sitting in my recliner with my Yorkie and junk food watching Law and Order: SVU. But man, I see a whole new world for myself right now...literally! Thanks for the support everyone <3
