PaperBagPrincess's Journal, 17 June 2011

Wow, really busy, stressful days are HARD on a girls goal of healthier eating. Miserable last few days in that sense, but I guess I did OK on the calories ... not that I'm proud of how I'm eating. I feel like it has been nothing but grab and go. :p Although, for breakfast this AM I was so glad to have just enough time to throw together eggs with a tiny bit of feta and some grape tomatoes. Wish I had spinach, I'd have tossed in a bunch and nixed another egg.

FatSecret seems to want you to weigh in pretty regularly. I've got to decide what feels right for me ... I'm actually not a big weigh-er! Weekly, monthly? Hmm.

My little realization for the day was more water focused: I get so dehydrated when I'm in the car for hours! I guess making an effort to pay attention and stay well hydrated made me stop and recognize it today. I need to find a glass water bottle to fit my cars cup holder. :p I mean, even my dog has water + a bowl in the trunk that I stopped to give him half way through the ride!

Good stress management is definitely in your best interest when it comes to your weight loss. From the beginning I told myself that my commitment to my own weight loss would be tested at every turn & I think preparing myself in that way was a good thing. In the beginning I felt like I was being tested frequently, & when I met those challenges head-on & just dealt with them however I needed to, I got a great deal of satisfaction in conquering them. What's interesting is that as time went on it seemed like I was being tested less & less often because it got easier to stick to my program. In reality, the workarounds I had put in place to deal with common situations just became my new normal. As far as weighing, you can do it as often or as little as you like. No one else here will care. :) So do what feels right for you. And drink that water girl!!!

Sounds like you had a great breakfast! FS seems to remind you to weigh about every week. I noticed that when mine didn't drop for 7 days and I hadn't recorded it. Decide what is right for you and record it when you want. :) As for the water, I always carry a small cooler with water bottles whenever I drive anywhere! You definitely need to stay hydrated so good luck finding something to fit your cup holders! I hope your stressful days get a little easier to manage. Take care!

If you have time, and can jump on here in the midst of your stress (BEFORE) you eat - you can usually find someone to chat with, or something to read in one of the posts about managing or dealing with stress. It will become crucial over the coming weeks to begin to deal with old habits, and old mindsets - but never let yourself give up! YOU can do this! Forward March!!!

Thanks for that tip jsfantome! Not a bad idea. Today I took an amazing long walk (nearly 2 hours) with my dog, it really helped me de-stress. Unfortunately, after that I wound up helping a friend out and without any option to eat for HOURS and HOURS which was wretched. I'm so hesitant to keep anything on me right now because of heat, but maybe I need to get some almonds at least for the purse. :p

Your long walk sounds wonderful! I'm so glad it helped you de-stress! Lately I've been keeping plain almonds in a plastic bag in my purse but I've also been packing either an apple or a small container of yogurt in the cooler with the water I carry. Since I discovered just how many calories my favorite cookie at Starbucks had I've been carrying my own snacks. (Also looking for "reasonable" oatmeal cookie recipes! :) ) Another thing that I've been carrying a lot have been the tuna pouches from Starkist. Other manufacturers might also make them but these are the ones I have. I'm sure if you look around for safe (in heat) items you will find more than you thought were available. Have a great rest of the weekend!
