Wet blanket day! I took the doggies out around 7:30 and it was already hot (for that time of day) and humid. The dogs only went part of the way before my Lab seemed to be getting too hot, to my way of thinking, so I took them home and let her hop in the pool to cool off - which she LOVES!!! I finished up the walk by myself for the full 3.3 miles. It was not quite 8:45AM when I got done and it was already 80 degrees with high humidity. Summer's a'comin'...

I've been watching the news for information on the Joplin, MO tornado. DH and I used to make a fair number of trips between the upper Midwest and Texas. After stopping in Joplin by chance on one of those trips, we liked it so much, we made sure that was our stopover whenever we made that trip! Great area, beautiful scenery, friendly people. I'm glad they're still finding people alive, but know that the death toll is high and bound to go higher.

Your walking is so good. Thats sweet of you to let the dogs go swimming while you finish your trip. I hate that Joplin Mo. was hit so bad. So many people hurt, killed and not found yet. Praying they find more alive and the little pets also... have a great evening........Bren

Such a bad year for weather. I pay attention now when we get tornado warnings.

I cried when I prayed for those in Joplin. What a terrible toll. Good on you doing that walk! Most people would be glad to stop when the dogs get hot, good on you for keeping going!

Oh Bren, you're right, that along with the human toll, there will also be a lot of pets that either perish, or are lost, or are found, but remain unclaimed by family. The animal shelters/humane societies always have their work cut out for them after a disaster like this.

BuffyBear & GG-Girl, I've had to take cover during warnings but have so far escaped. Hope all our luck holds out!

Squiggly, I did give some serious thought to stopping when I took the dogs back home. But then I figured I was already hot and sweaty so a little more couldn't be all that much worse - LOL!

Oh gosh, another tornado outbreak across Oklahoma with serious damage. Watch out, all you in the Heartland - it's coming your way.
