Sweeet2th's Journal, 28 July 2014

I haven't written in a few days, but there wasn't much to write about except pretty much the same ol', same ol' - kicking ass and taking names, of course! P90X is becoming a lot of FUN! I've stopped dreading it and started loving it! I'm wrapping up Phase 1 of the program this week, and I can't wait to start Phase 2!

There's also a little story I wanted to share with you about one of the many reasons I never "cheat" when it comes to what I put in my body. Actually, there are quite a few reasons why, but I'll just share one of those with you today:

This past weekend, I was confronted by someone I don't know very well and didn't understand why I eat the way I do. (I eat a whole-food, plant-based eating plan, FYI.) He said, "Oh, C'mon... You gotta have some "cheat foods" sometimes! C'mon... lighten up! Live a little! Have a treat!" And my response to him was this:

"If you actually took the time to get to know me and my health history, or educate yourself about nutrition and its effect on chronic disease, you would know that this way of eating has allowed me to genuinely LIVE for the first time in my life. And now, I don't just live, I THRIVE. There isn't anything I can't do anymore! Two years ago, I couldn't walk a mile. I was crippled with pain, and I was in denial that my body was slowly dying inside. Now, I'm taking up rock climbing, running 10K's with ease, and becoming a personal trainer and health coach to help others thrive. Those foods that you think allow you to "cheat" and "live a little", actually make you "die a little", and with each bite, you're digging your grave. Good luck with your treats and your grave digging, but I choose thriving instead." And with that said, I simply walked away.

I'm tearful as I write this journal entry, because, after a lifetime of struggling with "diets", I know I finally "get it". My life has been forever changed and I refuse to ever go back to being sick, obese, and in denial that those habits were slowly killing me.

The sky's the limit for me now... and for the first time in my life, I genuinely believe it.

Wishing all of you a limitless week!
