Part Two of Lesson Learned (or not)

Went out last night as well. This time is was my other best friend-long limbed, stressed out event planner who has lost 15 lbs doing nothing; unnaturally beautiful blonde and our friend the recently fired publicist. We were holding a pity party for her.

I ordered boullaibase with lobster, shrimp, mussels and clams, eschewed the bread, they both ordered entrees with pommes frites. Tested out my new theory re: losing taste for my previously fav fatty foods and discovered that I LOVE french fries. I ate one and another and another ad infinitum and they tasted marvelous each and every time.

Bloody French!

LOL OH my girly... have you tried the Sweet potato fries??? Not sure if you have Safeway around you, but in the frozen section, near the "healthier type" foods, they have bags of sweet potato fries and they are TO DIE for good!! They are tad bit "sweet", but just look like orange fries and oh so yummy! Full of good fiber, beta carotene and is it potassium.... I forget. Anyways, very tasty and a good replacement for FRIES! =D Keep on truckin' you're doing great!

So, instead of being something you can do without (like mac and cheese,) fries could be something that's a once in a long while treat! Glad you enjoyed your meal!

I do make "oven fries" and they are terriffic too. Maybe if you include them in your regular menu's at home you would be able to pass up the high fat deep fried versions in the cafe's. You just cut your potato (or sweet potato) into fries/stips put them into a bowl with a teaspoon of olive oil for each small potato, add sesasonings, toss and stir to coat the potato with the olive oil and seasonings, put in a single layer on a baking pan or cookie sheet in a hot oven at 450 degrees.. cook about 15 minutes (I like to turn mine over and cook another 5 -10 minutes). easy to do and when i serve these to company they love them better than the deep fried variety. I guarantee you will love them and not have any guilt at all. My hubby can eat a large amount of these! Hang in there, you are so much stronger than a little deep fat fried french fry... I know you can beat it!!
