Sandy701's Journal, 26 June 2013

Extra toasty this morning....88 already just before 10 when I finished walking. UGH Index a solid 9, so doggies went for shorter distances in as much shade as I could find.

Our re-fi closed yesterday - SO happy!! Saving money puts a smile on my face!

The scale this AM SHOULD have given me my lower number, but, alas, it did NOT. Stupid scale. I'm about a feather away from the lower number which makes it encouraging and frustrating at the same time. Oh well....trying to push it out of my thoughts. Like the re-fi, it WILL happen!

Last Friday, DH passed his semi-annual fitness assessment, so we went out to dinner as a celebration. We've certainly cut way back on going out since embarking on this WOE. Mostly, it's because of the expense relative to the taste of the food. Since being on this WOE, I want the food I do eat to be really good. If the restaurant's food is mediocre, why spend the money on something that's not all that enjoyable?

We headed to a local restaurant that does a lot of fresh fish and they do it well. Yes, it was expensive (maybe typical for restaurants these days), but the food was well worth it! I took half the fish and double veggies home and had it over the weekend. Everything was completely on-plan and very tasty.

I've been trying very hard to stay tuned in to my true hunger. It hasn't resulted in a lot of weight loss, but I'm feeling like I'm ever-so-slowly moving in that direction. It's subtle, but there really IS a different feel to when I'm on track and losing, and when I'm just stable. I'm also still feeling comfortable - for now - in not logging my foods. This is all part of this Maintenance experiment of mine - the way I'd approach this WOE going into the future.

Diet Calendar Entry for 26 June 2013:

Stupid, stupid, bad, ugly scale. I am sure the humidity has clogged the mechanism. BTW - glad you got the mortgage done - you must be relieved now.

Glad you got the refinancing done, that's a weight off your mind, now if it would only translate to the scale - lol. But if you are feeling the difference, you know it will come. One of my buddies, Paula, is doing weight loss without the scale, going by the practice of knowing if she is eating right that the weight must come off and that she can feel it in her clothes. It sounds as if you 'feel' the same, you can feel the difference, however subtle. Keep it up, it will happen. Hope for a cool breeze for you.

So glad you got that one thing off your mind..We don't eat out as often either and our food taste better and not as salty..I love our grill..wish we could use in the winter time..but alas I would freeze my buns off and the grill wouldn't get warm enough any way...LOL..My scale isn't moving much either..one day its up and the next its down..but basicaly the same..but I'm not too worried it will come off..I have an incentive..I want to lose at least 5 more before Aug 1st..thats when we go to decoration..will be nice to see everyone again and have a cook out with about 30 or so people..DH's family..he has alot of family..Enjoy your evening..:O)

SHOULD - what a lousy word! These are the things you SHOULD do. These are the things you SHOULD eat...This is the number you SHOULD weigh... you're way past that! :) You're doing an amazing job w/ this thing called LIFE! Thanks for being there for me!!!

Cjmurphy, thanks for stopping by! I'll take all the encouragement I can get!

I'm sure that's it, Buffy...why didn't I think of that? Everything else around here rusts and molds so why shouldn't that happen to the scale? LOL! Hope you're having a good day!

Issy, I AM happy to have the re-fi done. Never hurts to have a bit more money staying in the pocket and not going to the bank. The weight/scale deal is interesting. I'd love to stay off the scale but, for me, I'm not ready to go there. I spent too many years off the scale, seemingly without any "problems," only to see my clothing sizes go up and up, right along with the pounds. If I need to stay on the scale on a daily basis for the rest of my life to be sure I'm not oozing upward, then it's a small price to pay. But, as I said, that's just me. And, who knows....in a few months or even years, I might feel confident enough to go forward without living by the scale. One just never knows, I guess.

Bren, I've done that a time or two....tried to grill when it was just too darn cold outside! We've got lots of charcoal ready for the grill but we won't be using it for a bit. DH just did up a Boston butt roast, so we'll be eating on that for awhile. That cookout on 8/1 sounds like a great time....and a good motivator!

That's so true Paula. They always say "Don't should on yourself." LOL! I applaud your courage as you've been facing all the ups and downs that are LIFE. It's so true that losing the weight is only half the battle (maybe not even half)....it's Maintenance that really tests our resolve and life vision. :)
