Sandy701's Journal, 23 April 2013

My food yesterday should have been OK, according to my mental math, but when I got it all logged in today, it turned out to be higher in calories than I'd like. Oh well. It's just so easy to run higher when I don't log first.

If I log first, I may have to adjust, but at least it gives me a framework to begin with. What did me in were the low carb cookies I took out of the freezer. I really like them and each one is fairly easy to work into my plan....but when I eat all 4 in the bags I put together, well....it doesn't work as well.

Over this weekend, I continued doing yardwork and my hamstrings are still super-sore, even with stretching. I think I need to just give them a bit of a break from repeatedly bending over with my legs straight. We got lots of work done, but there're still HOURS of it left. Lots of opportunities to log extra exercise this week!

Also this weekend, I got another call from my neighbor asking to take her grocery shopping (yes, that neighbor). I had to summon up my courage and have "that talk" with her, letting her know that this would be the last time I could do that. (Tough love IS tough.) Those of you familiar with this saga know that it is WAY past time for that entire family to come together and find long-term answers and solutions to this couple's various needs; their needs are much more extensive than neighbors and acquaintances can handle.

And, finally, a compliment for a contractor! Our usual HVAC contractor, who has been excellent for us, came out today to do the semi-annual checkup on our system. He was seriously on time, almost getting to our home faster than the dogs and I could get back from our walk! We beat him there, but not by much! They're replacing a part under warranty and he even noticed our attic light had burned out....said if I had a replacement, he'd change it out for me. What a guy!

I knew there was a reason not to try any low carb baking! Am very happy you are having good results with at least one contractor. And I do remember THAT neighbor. So nice that you took her shopping, but really, enough is enough.

Me thinks the low carb cookies are the culprit...LOL..Boy isn't it nice to find at least one good contractor...I do remember your talking about that neighbor..and your right you can't keep doing for them or you will be expected again and again..Tough love is right...:O)

Well, all I can say about those cookies...What kind are they? LOL...Cookie Monster ME! Love me some cookies & muffins & brownies, so I'll quit now, it is a long list. So, I got distracted...see what thinking about cookies does to me? So glad they were low carb & not full sugar. Even though you ate all 4, they were a much healthier choice than "regular" cookies. We are all human. Even cookie monsters & nut monsters, etc. Now, about that neighbor of yours...I feel for you, I don't know how I would handle such a situation. Really puts you in an awkward position. Glad you were able to tell them how you feel. That is one heck of a contractor!

Buffy, I found the recipe for those cookies rather by accident and they are fantastic! At least by bagging them up only 4 to a bag, I limit myself....in theory! LOL!

GG, those cookies are right up there with those chocolate chip ones you gave me the recipe for. For non-chocolate cookies, that is - LOL! But truly, I really like the flavor that comes from using unsweetened coconut flakes in them. The original recipe had a small amount of molasses in it, but I subbed s/f Torani because that's what I had on hand. Then, I did up 2 batches, 1 with low-carb baking mix and the 2nd with almond meal. I'm hard-pressed to decide which I like more. Like those chocolate chip ones, I'll be making these again and again. :)

Sure enough, Sherlock Bren! LOL! That HVAC contractor is a keeper...their office personnel occasionally get things mixed up, but the techs are first-rate, really know their stuff!
