Almost one week on South Beach Phase 1. I have cheated a little bit-margaritas on the weekend and one tortilla chip last night, nothing CRAZY. I have noticed that since starting my cal intake has dropped substantially. Yesterday I took in 675 cals and for the first time found myself hoping the tally would be larger -I added everything I could think of and still came up "short" ---is this normal for SB Phase 1? I am not worried about stopping my metabolism as I have discovered it does best at around 800-900 cals per day so maybe these low days will help...not sure yet. Will decide after first two weeks...

I have not lost any weight either (Wah!!) Where's my as much as 13lbs???Really though, I am surprised and disappointed. Does one have to stick to it PERFECTLY to lose anything, even a little pound?

On another note, I was walking the dog and felt so dizzy as if the ground was falling beneath my feet...I thought it was because I had a piece of cheese for bkfast and was hungry. When I got back to the office, I found out we had a strongish earthquake. I was told everything was swaying, even the telephone poles. I didn't notice anything other than the motion sickness.

Ok-gotta get back to work.

Im a former Californian and have been though some big ones there. I know that when you are outside it can be common to get that "dizzy" feeling. They say its because you can't "see" it when outside unless it is tumbling down buildings and you usually HEAR it when your surrounded by houses, windows and things. It gets rather exciting during those earthquakes doesn't it! I hope there hasn't been any injuries, I just now heard about it. about phase 1... how long have you been on phase 1? I didn't lose much the first week of phase one, I did lose a little, but the second week it fell off and I lost a total of 9 lbs on the first 2 weeks. I did not cheat at all on phase one, the purpose of phase one is to re-set your system so you don't get urges to over eat or binge and free yourself of sugar addictions and things like that. Can only tell you what you already know, stick with it and you will see results. I know its frustrating to do everything right and not lose. We should start a club! LOL I also wish I were better at ZIG -Zagging calories. I know it works but its hard for me to get a low calorie day, high ones are easy! I bet that would work for you since you find it easy to get the low calorie days in... try for a higher calorie day and then right back down and see what happens. The theory is.. if you consume 1200 calories a day.. example.. have a 800 calorie day and then have a 1600 calorie day (using the 400 calories to add on to the 1200 calorie normal day).. they say it works and others have had great success at it. I would try it if I could figure out how to have a low calorie day without being so darn hungry.

Hey I didn't know you are from CA-where? No damage or injuries reported and I think it was down graded to a 5.4. I have lived her for twenty years and still get scared and think about the big one a lot. My husband is a native so does not really react much, except for the Northridge Quake when he threw me out of bed and lay on top of me! I think I knew then I would marry him... It will be a week on Thursday that I have been on SB. I am so relieved to read that you lost the weight in the 2nd week and not the first. If we were separated at birth (as I suspect) I will have a similar experience if I can hang in there. I notice I have a funny taste in my mouth and am thirsty, is that normal too? I zig zagged for a while and did lose about 3 lbs in a month. That's good for me. I will try to do it too and let's see how we do....

Im originally from San Diego, raised in Mission Beach (we lived on the bay side, across from the yacht harbor). Went through school there ...then lived in Hawthorn (Los Angeles) for a year and thats where ImLuuvd was born. but we also had a home for a long time in 29 Palms, CA.. out in the desert East of Palm Springs. My youngest was a competetive figure skater and we drove to Palm Desert (other side of Palm Springs) for her lessons and practice at least 4 times a week. I was glad when she quit! I was in 29 Palms when the big 7.5 hit us, my home had no damage at all, except for about 1,000 gallons of water "spashing" out of the pool like a huge eruption of water shooting up out of a fountain! it was weird. Had friends in the Northridge quake and that was horrible, they were some of the ones that got their feet all cut up going through the broken mess to get to their kids and get them out... horrible. Glad to hear you were not injured, hubby definately showed his good side there! thats really sweet! I moved to Idaho 10 yrs ago but I love it here. I miss my friends in CA but go to visit them often. I also had an aunt that lived in Monterey and I loved going to visit her there, actually my entire family lived in CA. I am trying to zig zag but I always seem to zig and never get to zag!

I'm from California as well. I live in San Diego, in the SDSU area. I didn't feel the earthquake, but my husband, who works downtown, said that his building was swaying a bit.
