This should keep me going for a while.
My mutton - 13&14 years old ewes, primitive breeds, North Ronaldsay, Shetland and Ryeland. 100% grass fed and finished, no veterinary interventions or medications, born here, and killed happy and unstressed at home. They are my friends and will always be with me. I know who I am eating, their name is on the freezer bag, and I give thanks to them. They had a longer and better life than pretty much any other sheep, and a good death.
Conventional condition score - H = over fat. The slaughterman was amazed, he was expecting such old girls to be bags of bones.
Fat is good for me, concentrated, minimal bulk and incredibly satiating. I have gently rendered some for cooking, it tastes clean and sweet, I can eat it neat!
Healthy diet for me, and overpoweringly delicious.
