Good morning, FatSecret, and Happy New Year!

As so many others, FatSecret is part of my New Year's resolutions.

I have spent the latter half of 2012 trying to get my footing on my weight after the surgery, and never really succeeded. On the side line, Wife has watched her weight slowly increasing too.

So, we have – hand in hand – decided that we're gonna do this right. The FatSecret way. The way that works, and that is doable.

So, my New Year's Resolution is to go for 1600 calories per day. An Indulgence Day once per week, and PLENTY of exercise!

These days, I have a HARD time exercising. It's been rough getting going on this, but I need to move. I simply have to, and I know from last time that the beginning is MUCH harder than the rest of that journey. I just gotta get my butt in gear.

Before Christmas, I dabbled some in creating my ”Rollercoaster Diet”, with a couple of extremely low calorie days. This will have to be shelved for now. I have a goal – to be under 80 kgs before I meet the doctors on February 22nd. I can't ”waste” time on something that I still can't really see is moving me much forward. I will have to dabble in this later. It's definitely not forgotten – I see so many benefits from doing this. Now is just not the time.

I didn't weigh in today, but I pretty much expect the worst. I expect to be around 95 kilos, and that is pretty much unbearable for me. I absolutely hate that.

I didn't even think of weighing in, which is strange, as I have been very convinced about getting going from today. I think I'm simply terrified of the number I'm gonna see. That's okay. If I do right, I will lose weight no matter what number the scale shows. Right? :)

So, tomorrow I will do better and weigh in. Today I will simply go for 1600 calories, as I will every day. I know that this, combined with exercise, works. I know that this is what I'll have to do. And this is what I WILL be doing.

I still don't have my membership card for the gym, but I'm hoping it'll be in the mail tomorrow. I'd like to get going there.

Also, I'd like your opinion: There is a new place in town. It's called Loop Fitness. The idea is basically that they have a ton of machines in a circle. You go 45 seconds on each machine. It'll give you a little ”ding”, and then you move clockwise to the next. You're done in 12 minutes, and they suggest you do two rounds. That means a total exercise regime, working all your major groups, in 24 minutes. On top of this they also have treadmills, cross trainers etc.

Is this an okay way to get the ”other” muscle groups going? My normal approach to working out has been ALL cardio, as I was aiming for my 77 kilo goal before the surgery. It was much more about losing fat and weigh than it was about looking good.

This time I see it a little different.

So whaddaya think? They even have a website, and I believe they're all over the world. Www.loopfitness.com. Please let me know if any of you have any experience with this system.

I hope all of you have had an amazing Christmas and New Year, and that you, like me, are ready to give the weight a huge knock down.

Let's do this!

Today, I'm thankful for:
In the groove!
A great night's sleep (something I haven't had much of lately)
Morning coffee (salute!)
Wife being by my side on this. She's even registered her breakfast on FatSecret!
Last day on Christmas/New Year break.
...and a Happy Birthday to my late Dad. Had he been around, he would have been 84 years old today. I miss you, Dad!

Life is good!

Happy New Year KK. 'loop' training sounds similar to circuit training. I have dabbled in it, not seriously, but I believe it is the best way to exercise. DEFINATELY good to mix strength training in with your exercise routine. Cardio is good BUT has it's limitations. I am sure there are lots of people on this site, who have experience in this area. Nimm put some photos on, of his wife, to show the difference it made to her - they are amazing.

Keld, you're so fortunate to have a partner to diet with. I know you know that, but I'll just say it again. Happy New Year to both of you. I had to go to Google.com and translate using Google translate to see your circuit training gym. Personally, I think any place close is worth going. I've been at a loss since I lost my gym in the summer. I did look at all the exercises/machines. As you know, I weight train 3x a week and do more free weights than machines. I also don't do the same muscle groups in a day. But barring having a trainer, it looks good and it looks like it would keep you interested. I've heard good things about circuit training as it relates to aerobics and resistance training. My only question is how often can you go and still have good recovery. I hope Nimm weighs in on this journal entry; he has a lot of experience. But I'll be happy to hear how it works out for you.

They have an awesome opening offer, A full month for somethign like £3, I think I'll sign up and see what happens. If it's good, I'll go there instead of the cheapie gym.

Thank you for your input, Helewis. I do think I will try it out. They are open every day, and I am thinking of going three times per week, and just do some bicycling at home, or long walks, on the other days.

Hey Keld - I didn't try to look this up, but from your description it sounds similiar to 'Curves' for women, here in the states. And if it is... then I would say... GO FOR IT! After 4-5 months of doing this type of training...I was in the best shape of my life! As a matter of fact, just typing this has made my decision! I am going back to Curves...tomorrow!!! Much Love, and good for you that you are re-evaluating and making adjustments. Do what you gotta do...and when you are back down to where you want to be...you can figure out maintenance then. Much Love.

Weight training is imparative for weightloss- as much as cardio is or maybe more. Muscle is very calorie burning, so the more you have the more you burn... this is good! and it helps you feel strong, and tones the body, helps put the skin back where it used to be before it was full of fat. and 20 to 30 mins of HARD workout is more effective then hours of treadmilling
