kingkeld's Journal, 14 August 2012

Good morning!

No weigh-in today, but I can't go without writing my journal! :)

I woke up around 1 am, and I didn't sleep any more. I was so thirsty, and I've been drinking water all morning. No point in recording a weigh-in, as it'd be ridiculously high, and not anywhere near a realistic number.

Yesterday was weird. I was hungry ALL day. I did give in a little bit here and there - and didn't record all of it, but I think I did reasonably well. I am probably around zero-fat-lost-zero-fat-gained, and that's okay by me. Today I will do better.

I think this strange hunger came from the super low intake Sunday. I only had almost 700 calories throughout the day, and I think this made my body scream for nutrition. Of course, when you get hungry you start thinking of all the quick fixed, and that's where I fell in some. Oh, well...

Lesson to learn from this is to make sure to eat enough every day, and not go low like that. It'll bite you in the rear afterwards. In the future, I'll look into having SOMETHING reasonable to fill up my RDI, or at least get closer. I have gone low to around 1200 calories MANY times without feeling like this. I guess this should be a key number too look for, if I go low.

I know it's the general opinion of the FatSecret users that going lower than 1200 is a bad idea - and I believe that some even say 1800 for men. I'm not sure I can lose weight, do Indulgence Day and 1800 calories and actually lose much weight though.

Anyways, it's not fat that I'm so much trying to lose. It's the damn water.

I have no idea how that is going today, but I have a feeling that it's a little high, because of the food yesterday. We had pasta for dinner, and it was much saltier than any of us really like, and I wouldn't be surprised if it made me gain for a day or two.

We'll just have to see.

So, to day is the day where Burnin' Live is getting together for the 2nd time. I think we're gonna stick with Burnin' Live. I like the name a lot, but the thing is that we can't use our awesome logo, as the font we're using simply doesn't have an apostrophe.

...actually... I just talked to my favorite graphic designer, Daughter, and she'll take a look at it. She says it shouldn't be too hard. Nice! Thanks, Daughter!

Tonight, we're gonna try out a singer for the band. He's super excited to try out, and I think with a little time and practice he could be a nice fit. He's untrained, so there is some work to be done. But, of course, we also have a drummer who hasn't played in a band in 20 years, and a 15 year old guitarist who have never played in a band. So I think it's okay that we start small. :)

I have my three meals recorded already, knowing what I'll be eating. I'll be having an early dinner, at around 3:30PM, as we will be playing music from around 4PM. I might be hungry later on, and I'll be bringing a protein bar - just in case.

I'm spending quite some time creating a set list for us, songs that we over the next months will learn to play and get ready for our first live gig - wherever it'll be. It'll be a fun, rocking setlist, songs that people know, but not a watered down, toothless set with no surprises. At least, that's the goal.

It's hard to find the right songs. I am raised on hard rock and heavy metal, the style we play. However, we want to be able to sell our band to a broader audience, so we have to make sure that there are PLENTY of songs that non-metal fans know and like, without it sounding like we're just selling out. It's quite the challenge. I could easily sit down and do a list of 100 songs that totally rock and that would be awesome to play for a band like us, but many of those songs wouldn't be familiar to the people who will hopefully pay to hire. It's a fine balance.

We're hoping to aim at a "Rock Fest" audience, people who want a rock party, and want to dance and do sing-along, so it needs to be familiar songs for pretty much everyone, and maybe with one or two songs that we play simply because we can.

It's fun to work with this, and a challenge. I feel that I'm getting there, though.

Today I am thankful for:
- Rocking HARD tonight!
- Morning coffee, when you can't sleep.
- An awesome day with Wife yesterday, even if "she let me slide" a little too much. Today I'm on track. I have to be.

Not too much weight loss talk today. I'm all excited about tonight. Life is good!
