I am a second timer on the SB diet... I have tried two different diets prior to SB. It worked for me but I was hungry during all the process. I'm quite happy with South Beach cause I can finally eat what I like and I lose pounds with a blink of an eye! ;) Since I'm on medication it tends to make my belly compete with Buddah and I gain all the weight I lost (well, almost...). So I'm back!

Birth Control Pills and Weight Gain
I always gain weight when I'm on the pill even if I diet. I asked my doc and he says that it has to do with the hormones. Since an hormonal change makes me feel more stressed and/or depressed I gain weight in the midsection. With the stress factor my body produce more cortisol and it tends to get stuck on my waist...
