I'm from the deep south where home cooking is smothered, slathered, and mostly deep fried in fat. Growing up my parents never really instilled the importance of nutrition. We had dessert every day.. sometimes twice a day! I've always been a little overweight and even more since hitting my 20's.
Now, I am a wife and mother of 2 and it's even harder to find the time and will-power to commit to losing and keeping it off.
Recently, I have found the determination after hitting an all time high on the scales after giving birth last September.
I am now ready to take an extra step in order to shed the pounds as fast as safely possible. Hopefully this website will give some tools and encouragement to do so!

**Update 4/30/08:
So the little one is nearly 9 months old now and I'm nearly 25 lbs lighter. It feels pretty great, but I'm still working hard and hopefully I lose another 25.. I'm looking for some buddies to share some motivation and encouragement! Best of luck to all of you!

A New Challenge?
Yay! Glad to have other's willing to join. I haven't quite figured out what the guidelines should be. Any suggestions are more than welcome! I've never organized one of these challenges and was actually hoping someone would tell me how it should work. We'll figure it out and hopefully get started in the next week or so. Thanks & i'll be touch with all of you!

A New Challenge?
Hi everyone! I've noticed that many of you partake in these mini challenges for motivation and extra initiative. I'd like to do the same but the only challenge currently going is the 50 lb one & I don't need to lose quite that much. Anyone else looking to lose 15-30 lbs give or take and wanting to participate in a challenge? If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, let me know. I'm not exactly sure how it should work & what the "rules" should be. Maybe some of you from the Around the World challenge would be willing to get another one started. Thanks!

When to exercise BEFORE or After a meal.....what is best?
If I eat right before I exercise I get TERRIBLE cramps. That old cliche about waiting 30 mins before you swim.. well, it's true for me. I think it may be different for everyone. But keep up the good work! It's great that you're making time every day. I personally know how difficult that is!
