I'm 54 years old, live in Western Canada and edit a twice-weekly newpaper so I spend long days at the computer not expending much energy. Have been overweight (ok, obese) since I graduated high school and spent my whole life losing a few pounds here, gaining a few more back there.
For the past six months, since being diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I have created my own way of eating which consists of aiming at the low glycemic foods, trying to make sure I get a few servings of very high fibre and very high nutrition foods each day.
Progress is slow but I'm eating more or less what I like the most and not feeling all deprived and resentful... so that's good.
