Up until about 2 weeks ago, I thought I was in decent health. Not really paying in attention to what I was eating, or drinking. Eating usually dinner, maybe some snacks during the day, but never three meals a day, and never a focus on veggies or fruits. Pretty much a junk food junkie.
2 weeks ago I found myself in the emergency room with blood pressure that could of caused a stroke at any moment 236/130. After many test, and still more to come, it was discovered that my cholesterol was over 269 and the good one was at 17. Not looking to good for me. Next was the stress test which I failed. Needless to say a cardiac catheterization was ordered, where they discovered my LAD was 98% blocked. The surgeon was able to put a stint in to take care of the blockage.
Heart disease runs in my family and I always knew one day I would most likely have issues. I never thought at 45 I would be facing them. It's been an eye opener. I have been some research and feel the DASH diet is the way to go. So I try to eat better, think about what I am eating or drinking. It's going to be a life changer for me, and hopefully for the better.
