I used to be fit and a bit overweight. I controlled it with exercise (lots of exercise). Four years ago I got Lyme and battled it for a year. I am fine now, but the exercises I used to do (about 1.5 hours a day) are out the window as the Lyme did mess up one of my knees. I have to try actually monitoring my diet as I am noticing that this excess weight is causing other issues. I love this site where I can track what I need. Now to get serious!
