Is exercise a must while on Atkins
Jerzey your question is a pretty contentious debate! Many folks swear that we need to eat our exercise calories, and some don't. I think you need to listen to your body first and foremost.

Make sure you're eating protein with every meal. Protein gives us a feeling of satiety long-term. Eating protein when you eat carbs also helps slow the insulin/glucose response that lead to blood sugar spikes.

Eat a few meals throughout the day - I shoot for 4 meals, with my snack being mid-afternoon. Eat small amounts of balanced, low carb foods so that your blood sugar remains fairly stable.

If you're doing this and exercising, your body will tell you if you need more. I exercise every day (sometimes 2x a day) and generally I eat between 1400-1700 cals. If I am hungry, I eat. I find that my carb cravings occur when I'm hungry and go away when I'm not.

So listen to your body. If you exercise hard and you're hungry, eat more. If your body is not hungry, don't eat. Our bodies are marvelous machines with many hormones and chemicals that help us regulate our intake. Trust in your body!

Ready for a change in my appearance!!
I'm 5'4" and 313 lbs. Yesterday was my first day on Atkins. Today has not been a good day. I've had close to 118 grams of fat, 27 net carbs, and 1800 calories. Arg! I think I'm getting close to my TOM so my anxiety always goes up...trying some anti-anxiety meds for the next few days.

I'm not hungry, but I'm eating anyway because I'm anxious. I'm trying really hard to not beat myself up too badly, but I'm having limited success with that.

I also am feeling fatigued with little motivation to work out. FOr the past couple weeks I have been doing an exercise video and walk at least 5 days a week.

Ugh. I just hope it gets better. And I hope that this is related to TOM and not that Atkins is going to be very hard to achieve!
