My name is Brooke. I'll be 30 years old on January, 22nd 2011. I gave birth to my first child, a daughter on December 21st, 2010. Her name is Elliana Jolee and she is beautiful and healthy! I completed a BA in Kinesiology with an emphasis in weight management and adolescent health. I've received several fitness certifications including personal training and aerobic kickboxing and have worked in the field for 5 years. I was an obese child and teenager and lost 90 lbs before getting pregnant. Now, Im a program director for a weight management, obesity intervention project for youth. My biggest struggles are learning how to cook and resisting sweets, fast food and junk food! I'm currently seeking a certification in Non-Profit Mangement and hope to have my own grant funded program for youth wellness within the next year. I've never done a blog, posted or anything at all like this. Hoping to get some support and give some as well.

zumba
It really depends on the instructor. Ive take classes with three different ones and if they are experienced in cueing, have good rythym and put together fun choreography, it can be very fun. If not, it can be a little...awkward. Depending on how much time they spend teaching the steps before each cardio song, it can be a good calorie burner, too.

Single mom who needs to lose over 100 lbs
Hey there Jen. Congrats on your progress...its not easy especially when you have a house full of people eating crap. I just turned 30 and had a baby 6 weeks ago. (my first) I lost almost 100 lbs before I got pregnant...was overweight since childhood. went from size 22 to size 4 and then got knocked up! I wouldnt change a thing, but feel like I'm starting over after struggling for years to lose all that weight. I'd like to be your buddy and we can support eachother.

SIR, YES SIR!!
You do sound fun missfortune, and your funny, too. I struggled with my weight since childhood, lost nearly 100 lbs and finally got down to a sexy size four for about two seconds and then I got pregnant! Just had my baby 6 weeks ago...have to lose 40-50lbs and I feel like I'm starting all over. Ive done every diet, severe restriction and finally came to the conclusion I have to reach my goal the healthy way (and painfully slow) but also have to make it enjoyable. Find ways to make exercise FUN and healthy food YUMMY. Good luck!

Exercising at Night
My kinesiology professor told us during a lecture that calories burnt are calories burnt, no matter what time you do it at...with that said, studies show exercising in the morning stokes your metabolism for the rest of the day and increases energy...also exercising in the evening can interfere with falling asleep...but everybody is different. For some people it helps them relax and bottom line if you can only get it in at night, theres nothing wrong with that!
