This is not working well
umm. what else have you eaten? there are more foods than carbs and sugar. ie. fat and protein... 3.8 is pretty close to 4 lbs. books will promise high numbers because that's what sells em. then they add a low number to cover themselves. the reason you should only lose a max of 2 pounds a week, is because once you tip over that. it becomes lean mass you are losing. also you need to trick your body out of the comfort factor of you current weight. and thats very sneaky. think. how long did it take you to gain the weight you are now trying to lose? now its going to take at least half that time to lose it.

Newbie
make sure you are consistently hitting around the 2500 calorie mark if that is your BMR for the day. Your body has also found a more efficient way of expending energy at work because it has become used to it. and has adapted. Get into the gym 3 hours a week. that'll work wonders!

A good website?

bodybuilding.com is great for what you're asking. Just ignore the bodybuilding aspect (I know you don't want to get RIPPED AND HUGE!!!lol) and you can learn a lot about what exercises are for what.

you are not going to get ripped and huge!! ha ha. break bodybuilding into the two words and switch em. building body. building the best body for you is the definition of bodybuilding. but bodybuilding.com is CHUCK FULL of awesome info! videos and other things.

How often should I be using free weights?
Mon: A Push day. Chest, Shoulders, Triceps.
Wed: Pull day. Back and Biceps.
Fri: Leg day.

do half hour cardio after 30-45 minutes of weights
abs every other day.
this is basic. but hope it helps.
full muscle recovery comes in 48-72 hours if you calories are pretty high. this also leads to fat gain. give each body part about a week.

A Questions For Eliptical Runners
Adr58 wrote:
Agreed - move your foot position around a little - bounce on your toes, push "flat-footed", lean back on your heels, use your arms more to relax your lower half, etc.

I do my elliptical exercising for 1hr 30 mins plus every day - pace is determined by the music videos I'm shuffling on my iTouch

this is your answer.
