Hello all! I am a 41 yo mother of four daughters. I did the "slow gain" with packing on 10-12 lbs a year for 10 years. I joined last fall (9/2010) at 262 lbs. I had figured I was getting older and getting fat was just inevitable...well not quite!
I found out last fall that there was a reason for the weight gain: insulin resistance. Yeah, I had never heard of it before either. So I investigated and discovered that with diet it can be controlled and eliminate the need for medication. So I started a diabetic diet and dropped around 25 lbs with the help of FS by tracking everything I put in my mouth....then got busy and stopped recording everything and regained 4 lbs over the next 5 months.
I joined a gym in May and worked out sporadically until 2 weeks ago. I decided that I needed to drop the other 100 lbs so that I am a much healthier weight. For me it has nothing to do with being skinny but with being a health and fit person. So I started with a personal trainer.
So between him and the support of you guys I hope to be half the person I am now in a year.
