Back on track! Have I mentioned before how much I've been loving eating healthy again? Fruits, veggies, gluten-free whole grains, bean and legumes, nuts and seeds. At this point, I'm not missing all the junk - sugar, alcohol, and all the processed chemicals we like to call food. Although, I am looking forward to not being so restrictive when The Daniel Fast is over next week. I've decided that I don't want to add beef and pork back in my diet, but I will do local seafood, which is easy to get fresh caught here. If I can find a local farm that raises healthy chickens, I'm comfortable with adding that back in as well. I miss having a variety of protein choices.

I'm so excited to break out of the 200s. My goal is to be in the 190s by the time I leave for India in 10 days.

It's crazy, my goal was to lose 5lbs/month and not go crazy over counting calories, but just eat whole and healthy again. With the exception of being on my period last week, the weight has been falling off...and I haven't even been working out hard beyond 30 minutes of yoga in the mornings. I keep waiting for the plateau, but I will ride this wave as long as it lasts!

I've had a strong start to the new year and eating healthy feels like slipping into a comfortable pair of pants. For so many years, I ate a plant-based diet and took my fitness and health very seriously. So, getting back to that has felt great. Finding time to go to the gym has been challenging, but I've been doing 30 minutes of yoga every morning, so that's a win.

Today has been rough, though. It's been a sad week full of transitions. I stayed up too late last night and was so tired and lethargic this morning. I've always known the powerful role emotions and lack of sleep play in my diet - either starving myself or bingeing - but I was fascinated by how strong the desire was to stop at a fast food restaurant while I was driving back from an appointment this morning. I'm glad I was able to recognize it for what it was and chose to say no and spend some time in meditation instead.

Breaking these old habits is work, but so rewarding on the other side. There will always be good and bad things that happen...having the correct tools and support system in place to navigate our circumstances is vital for success.
