Still here in Cuba! Sadly I got a bit of a throat infection, :(, and am now on a small cruise up the Southwest side of the Island. Today we spent the day on the beach in Cayo Largo - WOW!! gorgeous! I slept through breakfast since I was up part of the night with an annoying tickle in my throat, and then we took a tender straight to the beach, where we stayed till 4pm, so I missed lunch on the boat. This is the first time cruising, in my life, that I actually felt hunger. When we returned to the boat I was able to order a salad, caprese, with avocado and pesto. Since dinner is at 7:30pm, I kept it light. Still easily able to avoid carbs without issue and have no interest in dessert or sweets. Things are going far better, food wise, than I had predicted.

Ok folks! Day 3 in Cuba is coming to an end. I have continued to go to El Cafe for that brunch. I have successfully been able to do 2 meals a day since arriving with no snacking in between, critical to keeping insulin low! Last night I had a lovely garden salad, the shrimp with garlic and butter, and a little melting pot of Eggplant, Tomatoes, Onion and Cheese. This was at a place called San Cristobal, Obama stopped in there when he was here.
Today we did the old car tour in a 57 Ford. The driver told us the apartment building in the picture was built with NO ELEVATOR... seriously can you imagine?!?! Then I tried to take a picture of The Hotel Nacional and got photo-bombed by some Cubans who were pumped to be in the picture. I managed the hotel, the flag and the lovely Cuba logo - nailed it!
Tonight I ordered Beef "fajitas", strips of steak with vegetables and teriyaki sauce. I don't ever eat teriyaki, so was a bit bummed to come back to the hotel and google "how to make ter..." sigh SUGAR is one of the main ingredients. No wonder it was so good. It's ok, live and learn. We stopped at Floridita - Hemingway's favourite haunt and the crew had the famous Daiquiri, I declined.

Hi Folks, so I'm in Cuba and had a great first day.
The flight out of Toronto was delayed by 4 1/2 hours because all the little luggage tractors and machines were frozen solid. We finally got out though - Hallelujah!!
I googled restaurants in Havana before I left and when I clicked on images I saw a perfect Keto Meal, bacon, eggs and avocado. We found it today and gave it a go! Apparently they are seasonal and they didn't have them today but they substituted with cucumber and tomato. My husband ate my Sourdough that came with it. Thanks El Cafe in Havana - perfect lunch!

Today's lunch was a carry-forward from yesterday's dinner. Grass-fed Beef with grass-fed cheddar, tomatoes, avocado, sour cream and Iceberg lettuce shells. Yummy and very satisfying. Ditching grain/flour carbs has gotten my hunger and cravings licked. LOVE IT. Heading to Cuba in a couple hours, 12 days... let's see how that goes :)
Adios Fatsecret Amigos. :)

Eating is such a great flip-side to fasting. I have never enjoyed food this much with no addictive hole to fill as another killer plus. Today I don't miss the delicious shit I've been eating my whole life and am instead enjoying trying to keep my fat jeans higher than my ass. Some leftover dinner - egg roll in a bowl. If you like cheese - OMG MELT IT... it's like a flavour gift from God.
