I am a happily married mother of two-just had my latest baby in July of 2007. At the peak of pregnancy I was 238 lbs. I'm at 216 lbs right now, but obviously need to kick it up a notch since no weight has come off in the last 2 yrs! I learned about this website this morning on the Today show and thought I'd give it a shot. Since I moved away from my hometown in CA back in 2000, my weight has really moved up from 141 lbs-lots of yo yo dieting up and down 30 lbs. My first pregnancy in 2003 really kicked my butt from all the yo yo dieting and I gained a whopping 75 lbs. I took off about half of it, but could never lose it all, then got pregnant again at a high weight of 210 lbs. I just want to be healthy again, but am having a heck of a time since I have gained such a huge amount of weight! It all feels like soooo much!!!!!

Stupid Scale
I want to get on the scale, but know it's not good for me to do that daily for it makes me crazy. I just wanted to get that out-now I feel better!!!! I will get on it 1 time weekly on Sunday!

You want controversy? OK here you go....
I have been clean and sober and in AA for 14+ yrs. and my experience was that 10 yrs ago I switched my addiction to food. Food(sugar especially) was something that filled the hole in me and kept me from just feeling feelings and dealing with life on life's terms. When I was stressed, lonely for my friends from my hometown when I moved out of state, dealing with life's challenges, etc. it became easy to pick up food (usually pizza or ice-cream) and stuff my feelings down. Whether it's shopping, eating, drinking, or drugging, it can be so easy to look for something outside of me to make myself feel better. Since I have applied the steps to overeating, my obsession for food has lessened drastically. Eventually, I had to deal with my deep down issues(why I ate)or my issues were going to deal with me. AA and OA have been a true blessing in my life! Thank Goodness to OA founder didn't change up the steps-why change something that works so well? The founder of OA actually attended AA meetings to learn how to become abstinent, just as NA, and Alanon use the same steps.

am slowly losing
Me too! As long as I stay consistent with a healthy food plan, the weight will come off eventually. I figure I'll be where I want to be in a year, too. Better to lose it slowly than too quickly, then gain it back.

passed on cake and ice cream!!!
Good job! Staying focused and just not eating empty calories is hard to do, but I always feel grateful the next day!
