I am so excited! I received the SBD paperback and Quick and Easy recipes (hardback) in the mail and promptly read the SBD. It sounds quite manageable!

This Sunday, hubby Mike is graduating with his MA in Online Education and we are going up north (Northern California) for his graduation ceremonies and dinner with family, which is why I'm not officially starting the diet until the 20th, Wednesday. We're getting back Monday, I'm cleaning out the pantry of breads, rice, pasta on Tuesday, going shopping for new foods Tuesday and (hopefully) start on Wednesday!!! I'm so excited!

I tried Atkins several years ago and lost about 15 pounds, but after I went off it all came back plus extra. I'm really hoping to keep it off this time and take off more.

I went back to dance class on Saturdays (I can barely move!) But it was good to see old friends and teacher. They laughed with me at how big I've gotten, but all told me it's better to exercise and it's not how I look, but what's in my heart. I love my friends at dance, I'm so glad to be back (it's been about 5 years) and I know they are supportive and encouraging me to get healthy again, just like the folks here and I feel very lucky. Looking forward to practice tomorrow afternoon and then graduation ceremonies on Sunday!

Hubby is okay with the diet as well, he needs to lose some weight too, but he gets lots of exercise with keeping his gardens and vegetables on the hill. He is not looking forward to the first 2 weeks, since he loves his bread, but he's willing to go along with it (since I do most of the cooking). He loves nuts, so we'll definitely get those.

Dear New Friends,

I tried sending some private posts, but I don't think it was working right. Sorry, I can't figure this out... I hope I didn't send folks messages 2 or 3 times...

At any rate to answer a few questions, yes that's a sheltie with me, his name is Radar. He's 9 years old but acts like a puppy! We also have a mutt named Happy (she's 12 years), cats: Sonar, Quasar and Gateway, 2 fish with no names - goldfish and sucker fish - (we call them "the guys in the tank"). We used to name the fish, but they all died and when we stopped naming them they lived for 8 years (the guys now)!!

Fave horror movies: NOLD, 28 days later, Resident Evil (both), all Bruce Campbell films, The Ring. (I'm sure I'm missing a few but these are the ones I thought of first).

Fave horror novelists: Joyce Carol Oates, Peter Straub, Robert McCammon, Thomas Harris, Lawrence Block, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, Neil Gaiman, and of course, Stephen King. OH Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley (sp?), and the guy that wrote**** arrrggghhh!! I forget the name and ...urrgghhh.. oh well, it'll come to me later.

I'm really looking forward to starting the SBD, thanks for all the recipe ideas and places to check out on this site. It is so encouraging to read everyone's success!!
