I am a 24 year old English teacher living in Japan. When I started changing my lifestyle habits, I weighed about 164 pounds. My goal is to eventually drop to 143 pounds, and then start looking into gaining more muscle mass while keeping my body fat to a minimum.

I started Fat Secret at around 156 pounds, and I want to keep going! Wish me luck!

Sit-Ups and Push-Ups
Bchgurl knows her stuff! You really can't spot burn fat. You can do good cardio (getting your heart rate up for about 20-30 minutes) to aid in burning the fat, but your body decides where it comes from.

Doing exercises makes your muscles bigger which, at first like Bchgurl said, will make your stomach look bigger! Yikes! But keep it up and when the fat goes away, your abs will look fantastic.

I have also heard that muscles aid in burning the fat, so the more muscles you have, the more effective the fat burning (cardio) will be.

For me, I have noticed that my stomach is losing pretty much no fat, but my neck, legs, and arms have gotten much slimmer. I hope the last place to go is that belly!

Good luck!

Which type of excercise WON'T you do at the gym?
At my gym there is this Ab machine where you sit down, choose a weight, adjust the starting position, hug this cushion, and then twist your torso either left or right.

All it did for me was 1) make me embarrassed by asking the staff how to use it (twice), 2) give me awkward pains in my ribs area, and 3) make me realize how various types of crunches give me way more results in that same amount of time.
