I was a good 190 in 2000 after the birth of my last child. Took a couple of years to get most of that fat off (weigthwatchers points)..but was really just a smaller version of my fat self. So I started weight training off and on, along the way I learned a lot about exercise but more importantly about nutrition. I got serious about 3 years ago - weight trained very heavy, ate very clean - built some muscle and cut some fat...nearly at goal. Then about 15 months ago I burned out on all that, then the economy struck and worry over job and family stress hit...I gained about 20-25 lbs

Now have stress under control am back on a very clean eating plan and getting back into working out at a reasonable level. Want to drop that last 20, lean out and then be on maintenance for life! :D

How quickly can your body put fat on?
if you over indulged on carbs chances are you are retaining a lot of water...very simply

you eat carbs and it turns to sugar/glucose in your blood stream - after your muscles and tissues are "Fed" the extra glucose is stored in the liver - each molecule is stored with 2 molecules of water...after the liver is "full" then it's stored in fatty tissue.

what you are likely experiencing is the water/glucose/glycogen in the liver... when you eat under maintenance cals your body starts taking the stores from the liver (and the water goes with it) - this is why those on atkins or low carb diets lose 5-10 lbs off the bat (it's the liver depleting) - anyway - just get back on track and stop worrying about the past!!!

hi im new here- im a recovering bulemic, looking to sustain weight healthy way
I agree that your target BMI is too low. eating heathly foods is great but if you don't eat enough you will still have a problem - your metabolism will shut down and hoard it's fat (starvation mode) and then your body will start "eating" muscle and bone while preserving fat. I can't imagine that is your goal. if you want to maintain a healthy weight but have a lean "sclupted" look - then start weight training ... weight training + ENOUGH good food = much lower fat and nice toned muscles. shoot for at least 12 calories per lb and each meal needs to contain protein and a good carb.
