19 April 2016

Been over-eating a lot lately, according to my calorie cap. But really, it's the ONLY meal I've been getting for the last week. This new job is great for calories burned, honestly, and I'm sure I'm burning more than I'm able to record, but still, it's been brutal.

Standing for 8-10 hours a day on a kitchen line, with absolutely no breaks ever, no lunch times ever, and an absolutely slammed "lunch"time-rush for 5-6 of those 8-10 hours is intense. I've managed to eat a Cliff Bar the last few mornings before I clock in, but there's no way I'd ever get a lunch break or a break at all all shift. It's crazy how busy we've been, and we've only been open a week!

The scale says I'm gaining, like gaining a lot and fast, but I'm really hoping it's just water retention from post-menstrual and being dehydrated, standing on the line on the receiving end of the oven, furthest away from the kitchen's AC, will dry you out fast. And I really don't even have time to drink water most of the time.

I have managed to avoid the soda fountain, though, so that's good for me. I'll bring in a tea to caffeinate me in the morning, always black meaning no cream/milk or sugar or anything, and a reusable water cup that I can refill endlessly. I don't feel like I've gained weight, and I don't think I look it, so it probably is just water weight, and probably some food weight, too. I don't get to eat until 4-6pm every evening, then weigh in the following morning and I feel like it's skewed. I'll also charge the batteries in it and see if that helps.

So for the last 3 days I've been suffering from excruciatingly painful and stiff calves. I did a lot of calf raises on Wednesday, like 50-60 in 3 different positions, and I think I really over did it.

I can't fully stand up straight because the muscles and tendons are so tight they don't allow it. Once I finally to get to full standing I have to stay there, because the moment I sit down again they'll stiffen right up. Even just putting pressure on the muscles through touch hurts, I can't pull my leg all the way up and fold it, sit criss-cross or anything like that. It's really getting to me.

I've gone on several walks since, just trying to keep everything loose and moving, I feel that's all I can do. This better clear up by Tuesday, my new job starts then and I can't be practically incapacitated.
