Hey all!

I'm from London UK, 29 Years old. 6'2 currently floating around 230lbs (16st 6lbs). Always been a big fella from a young age and I've been as heavy as 275lbs when I was 19 years old. I've got a naturally heavy frame and high muscle mass and started doing weights in my early 20's but wasn't eating correctly and didn't have a clue about nutrition. I got really bulky but my fitness was really poor. I gave up the weights 2 years ago and got into amateur boxing. The intense training and daily roadwork has got me down to my current weight and looking lean, muscular and athletic. I also prefer the bodyweight excercises of chin ups, dips and various forms of press ups.

I'm confused
Hello Irish Trish,

Like sngourd said, calories burn are based on estimates. Each calculator will differ slightly depending on the variables used in their individual formulas.

Just a quick tip, when you're next on a machine at the gym, don't worry so much about the amount of calories you've burnt, think more in terms of how hard and intense you've worked.

For example I used to do longer distance runs (upto 5 miles) as part of my training. According to most calculators that equals around 900 calories for someone of my weight. Sounds good right? Not really. I've lost more bodyfat and improved my physique by doing shorter intense intervals lasting no longer than 10mins.

If you have any questions about this, just drop me a message.

Body Fat
Hiya Tuchler814.

I'm not sure what your current eating habits are like, but the general thinking for losing body fat whilst holding on to muscle mass is too eat regularly throughout the day.

I eat 5-6 times a day and comsume protein with each meal. I aim to eat approx 1g of protein for every lb of pure muscle mass per day. So that's approx. 210 to 220g for me. I eat a moderate amount of carbs and keep my daily fat intake to around 40 to 50g.

Eating regularly throughout the day increases your metabolic rate and gets your body to burn fat.

In terms of exercise HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is a great way of burning fat without eating and even better is that it only takes approx 20mins.

If you need any more info just drop me a message.

Good Luck!

Help Please
Wow, 100lbs!! That's excellent man! Keep up the good work!!!

I agree with what you said, it's not about Fad diets, it's about a lifestyle change! It's so easy to go on the latest fad diet, reach a goal then put it all back plus a half!

I also eat regularly throughout the day lkike you. 5- 7 meals a day. With each meal I consume high amounts of protein and keep my fat low. I eat a lot more carbs than what you suggested, but it's to support my intense training.

I hope we've been of some help Purplelover. Maybe if you post your diet and excersice regime, we'll be able to assist you further.

excercise at home.
Hello Pinkest_Princess,

I usually go for a run, do a few chin ups on a climbing frame, then at home I'll do various types of press ups and sit ups.

If you can combine some decent cardio in the form of running, or cycling with press ups, sit ups, lunges and squats you should get some pretty decent results.

Good luck.,

Detox?
Hey all,

Out of curiosity as I've never done a detox. Isn't is just water weight and muscle mass you lose rather than actual fat? And were you able to keep this weight off when came off your detox?

Thanks
