Feeling great about losing this weight! Today has me at a total of 7 pounds and I am starting to 'feel' the difference already. Something about this go around of getting healthy feels different that the two times in the past, I feel more powerful somehow. I think it's because I am doing it completely and totally for me. Praying this feeling never ends, it's refreshing to so easily be staying on track by simply making good choices and there's no inner battle that I am fighting. It would have been like a smoker of over a decade simply putting out a cigarette and being done because that is what they decided!

Started my 3 month/300 mile Bike Challenge today, instead of the "official" start tomorrow. For me the week begins on Sunday :) So my Day 1 ride was 6 miles even. Purchased a wireless odometer for my bike so it will track it to the 1/10 of the mile. Went to Creve Coeur Park and did the smaller of the 2 loop options, basically flat with only slight (and by slight it is very slight) inclines and declines. Kept at a 'leisurely' pace fluctuating between 6-12 miles per hour based on the incline. It was a start! I know as time, weight loss, and cardiovascular stamina build I will be able to increase the distance and speed and still ride the same amount of time. I feel good, it's the mindset....I could've easily said I would start tomorrow knowing full well we are expecting a day of rain and let that day pass and do nothing. Making a conscience good decision feels liberating, I really am in control!!!! :)

Up hours before dawn, couldn't sleep. It's beginning to rain but I will get the rest of my yardwork done this morning regardless (weeding/weedwhacking). Once I finish up some of my household chores, I am going to head out and get the necessary items to get my bike ready to roll...oil, helmet, bike odometer, water bottle. I am so looking forward to starting this summer challenge of biking 300 miles this summer! Trying to remember what year me and my sis biked the MS150 tour? That was 150 miles in two days! Granted I am nowhere near in shape like I was then, but if this kick starts me like I hope it does, who knows by next year I could participate in that awesome bike ride to raise money for MS again!

Finally found a challenge out there that speaks to me! Bike 300 miles in 3 months (this summer)! Starts in 3 days officially, although weather permitting, I was hoping to maybe break my bike out Sunday. I really think this one is do-able for me. Granted I have pulled my bike out and ridden it for almost 2 years, but I loved the freedom of just peddling, breathing in the air, hearing the birds. Gonna have to take my bike out tomorrow and get the tires inflated, all major points oiled and find a bike rack to attach to my car again.
I am pretty darned excited, I like things that keep you focused with a goal in mind. 300 miles! Shoot, that's only 3 1/3 miles a day. Back when I used to ride pretty regularly I would put in 10-25 miles on a Saturday and then again on a Sunday. Granted, I am far out of shape with quite a bit of weight to lose so I know getting on that seat and just starting is gonna be excruitiating but who cares. Sitting here at 227 pounds makes my knees hurt and my back!
My new mindset is "I AM IN CHARGE" and I make the decisions and I am choosing not to be idle and watch my body and health related issues control me because of bad choices any longer!

Macaroni Grill for lunch yesterday :) Had a lunch meeting with a co-worker and we decided on pasta (I let her pick as she is just a days away from delivering her baby and certain tastes haven't been sitting well with her). When I got back and looked up the nutritional info of what I had eaten I was semi-surprised. Yep, I could have chosen a better choice, but what I did chose (Pasta Milano) wasn't "THAT" bad. I passed on the bread and olive oil, had an unsweetened tea. Since I had eaten a sensible breakfast all I had to do was make the conscience decision to alter my dinner plans. In the past I would've made an excuse, eaten my dinner and 'started over tomorrow'. How great I felt just knowing I am fully responsible and refused to give in to myself. So I had a Slimfast, simple as that. Now Slimfast is not a great way to enjoy dinner but it is an option I am using to get a full filling, getting nutritional content and to stay within the calories, fat, fiber, etc goals that I am setting for myself.
Praise the Lord for finally equipping me with the tools to take control!
