What a weekend. I started on Friday with the unplanned "Fast" that my devotion suggested. It was very empowering. Sat. my daughter came for the weekend and we started by baking homemade bread. We also went out to dinner that night and on Sunday after church got take out and spent the afternoon baking two kinds of cookies and a cake. Talk about temptation!! I am proud to be able to say I stood strong and stayed away from alcohol and flour! I did not lick a spoon or sample a cookie. This was a huge step in my taking back my life and learning to eat to live instead of living to eat. I am actually having a struggle trying to get enough calories in...

Ok, so my Lent devotions have a scripture and an action. Today's action was, "I will fast and use meal time for prayer." At first I was like no way, not happening, and then I decided if Jesus could fast for forty days I should be able to for one...so I did. I had nothing but liquids without any sugar and I feel really good about it. It was kind of empowering to not let food rule my life...Not giving in to the food. Was/am I hungry, YES but I didn't let food win. It's kind of like shifting from living to eat to eating to live. Great experience! Will I be eating tomorrow, oh YES!

I am feeling pretty good today. Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday I had a really bad day at work and drank an entire bottle of white. Yikes! That has been my only slip-up/splurge in five weeks so I guess I can live with it, let it go and move on.

Today is the first day in Lent. I plan to use these 40 days to make my body a better "Temple of the Holy Spirit". I know that I can to all things through Christ who strengthens me!

Feeling really good. Way more energy than 1 month ago. Still have some occasional intense cravings but managing them ok. The month went by fairly quickly and am looking forward to the next month!
